The University of Louisville football team picked up its best Class of 2016 recruiting commitment yet, according to the ratings on Rivals.com, from four-star safety Jaquelle Green of D'Iberville, Miss.
The 6-foot-1, 186-pound Green, who announced his pledge on Twitter, is rated the No. 231 player nationally on Rivals.com and is positioned to become U of L's first signee ranked in Rivals' top 250 since Bobby Petrino was rehired as coach. He's rated the No. 8 senior in his state and the No. 14 safety nationally by Rivals.
Recruited primarily for Louisville by cornerbacks coach and Pascagoula, Miss., native Terrell Buckley, Green picked the Cards from an impressive list of scholarship offers that included top Southeastern Conference programs Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi and Mississippi State.
He's the second well-regarded Mississippi safety to commitment to Buckley and the Cards this month, following Lamarques Thomas of Clinton.
Green, who's also rated four stars and the No. 28 safety nationally on ESPN.com, is Louisville's 20th commitment in the 2016 class. Per Rivals' ratings, he's Louisville's third four-star commitment, along with quarterback Jawon Pass and receiver Desmond Fitzpatrick. U of L's class is No. 17 nationally in Rivals' team rankings.
