I came cross our game against Miami on YouTube from the 1979 season. I watched our team put a scare into Howard Schnellenbergers Hurricanes before falling 24-12 and couldn’t help but marvel at our linebackers, Otis Wilson and Eddie Johnson, two future pros, as they laid the wood on Miami’s QB and Running backs. IMO, Two of the best all time at that position at UofL. It was fun seeing a skinny COACH on the Miami sideline along with future Louisville staff members as well. Had to laugh as they showed one of the coaches light a cigarette on the Miami sidelines. After that game a recap of the 1990 season came on. While I still have the VHS tape in a box somewhere, that was enjoyable as well.
It was fun to watch and look back to where we’ve come from over the past 40 years and to appreciate being lucky enough to have witnessed it all. As we prepare for 2019, I hope our young fans appreciate Coach Satterfield and the future of Cardinal football just like us long time fans do.
