1/29/22 LOUISVILLE VS DUKE GAME THREAD - NOON ESPN

Duke just doesn't look good. They will need the refs help to get out of the first 2 rounds of the NCAA tournament, given it’s Coach K’s swan song. It's a given they'll get it in the ACC Tournament, it’s a down year in the ACC too.

They’re missing a good point guard but they’re excellent on passing and offensive revounding

And now we're back to loose balls. The last few minutes it's back to the shit that has happened all season with this team. We're cursed. Plain and simple.

Cards got murdered on the glass today. Dukes whole offense was put backs and 2nd chance points

It all changed after Curry was slammed to the floor with no whistle. I watched the replay three times and he was knocked down hard by the secondary defender. There's no excuse whatsoever that a foul was not called. But, its Louisville basketball in the 2022/22 season.

Hard earned win for Duke. On the UofL side, best 30 minutes (minus first and last 5 minutes) of Louisville basketball this season. I now have hope that we aren’t a completely ineffective team void of any talent whatsoever. Time to build some positive vibes for complete turnaround next season.

They slowed it down for a bit and that's when they clawed back in.
Rece has been against us for some time. Not sure what set him against us but it’s evident.
That weasel even took a shot at our Baseball Program.
As Hamilton would say in Fast Times
" What a wimp"

Okay, all he said was it's hard times at UofL with its major programs which is true. Baseball team didn't make the post season last season just like the hoops team and the football team.

I didn't hear any animosity in his words or his tone. It was more like what in the world has happened here? Just a few years ago Louisville won the Heisman, the hoops team was ranked #1 and the baseball team was perennial world series participants.

All of a sudden those programs are struggling.

I heard plenty of animosity Perry Mason. Plenty.

Why would you throw the baseball program in the mix for having one bad season? Do they have a checkered past?
He lumped them in with all the things going wrong on campus which is total crap. It was a cheap shot.

No it wasn't! The point he was making is the same thing we Cards fans are thinking. The three major sports teams that are usually amongst the better programs, all struggled last season. He didn't lump football or baseball with basketball's recent NCAA troubles.

He was asking what is going on? Many fans believe it was covid that has derailed the teams but Davis was only bringing up what is happening here. That's his job when they have a piece on UofL's struggles. I've watched twice now and he was questioning, not judging.

He said at this point we’re looking for our next coach on Angie’s List. He’s a tool with no class.

Reece Davis is a program snob. He’s the same on football college game day. Your school has to be…

1. A member of the $EC
2. If not a member of the $EC, a program that has a long history of winning in all major sports since peach basket or leather helmet days.
3. A coach that is part of the E$PN “good ole boy” fraternity.

Then and only then, will Reece Davis give you any credibility.

You remember him saying Florida was “disinterested” when we played them in the Sugar Bowl. He was all like “I, uh, What?…..” when Charlie Strong confronted him.

Okay, I'm only going by what he said today. I watch a lot of college football and basketball and I've never felt before that Rece Davis was any kind of Louisville hater. If he's a SEC homer, well that's par for the course at ESPN.

I think most of us anticipated a piece today on GameDay about Chris Mack being fired. The panel was going to make comments that may upset sensitive Cards fans. All Davis did was add to the basketball story with the other disappointments of Louisville athletics.

I think it's a story that so many of the top Louisville sports programs are not achieving what they usually do, and a mid-season firing of the basketball coach is going to start a discussion on what's going on at Louisville?

All three programs are proven winners with just the occasional below par season, so when all three are struggling at the same time, there's going to be opinions on it with the media. They only spent a minute talking about it anyway.

in terms of interpretting how something was said by someone, i always use this analogy having seen hundreds of concerts... you can ask multiple people who attended the same concert whether they felt it was good or not (i see jam bands & each is a unique event and not the same setlist repeated at every show like most pop bands) and you'll get answers across the spectrum all based on that person's mood and nothing else. if you are in the right mood people fartng into kazoo can be the greatest conccert and if you're in the wrong mood the greatest mastepiece played to perfection will suck. so basically, how your day is going in terms of mood, happiness, health and sleep will affect how you see his comments. basic fact is all the sports sucked excpet womens sports so thanks to the women's programs for holding us up.

I worked with a guy for several years who is a big Patriots and Red Sox fan, who grew up in Massachusetts. He got his degree at Clemson in the early 2000's so he's a big Tiger fan and to top it off, his wife is from Connecticut and they both attended Uconn's four straight championships.

I used to ask him all the time did any of his favorite teams suck? He said he's still a Celtics fan and worshiped Larry Bird when he was a kid.

The dude has celebrated a lot.
