Saturday defensively

Defensively I won't be surprised if we don't see a whole bunch of four safeties; Quinn out, Watts slid inside and Tamarion McDonald slid down to the Bandit with Griffin and Hutchinson at the safeties. Reason being the two principle dynamics at work Saturday are: 1. keeping Ward in the pocket while not sacrificing pressure, and 2. maximizing coverage on Restrepo. Basically Restrepo is a hyper version of Brohm's ideal slot that we all envisioned we had with Caullen Lacy though Lacy seems to be more of an all-purpose guy. Restrepo is to Miami what Edelman was to Tom Brady and Cooper Kupp was with Stafford and the Rams. He is used on short crossing and rub routes as much as any receiver in the ACC and it's high percentage given Ward's accuracy. On 3rd down he's virtually automatic.

...oddly enough, I think we're better situated to defend Miami than we have been with Ga Tech, SMU, Notre Dame and UVa. With the polite exception of Notre Dame where Riley Leonard was limited to 52 yards on 13 carries and Notre Dame only ran for 117 yards, the leading rushers in every game--including Jacksonville State--have been the QBs. Ward doesn't run in the framework of the Miami running game; he does it to buy time or to take advantage of man-to-man coverage. Louisville has done very well defending RBs. In that light our greatest chore is not having the breakdowns for big plays out of the safeties that dogged us in every one of those games. Those mistakes in abundance against Miami and we're going to be the Spotlight Dance in Heisman highlights at the Downtown Athletic Club for Ward.

Thats your take? That St Johns made the news because their coach supports another team? I don't give 2 cents if St Johns fans are made or not, I just think it should be embarrassing to the university.
Again,

If St. John's doesn't have Pitino then they aren't even a bubble team.
With Rick Pitino, people are wondering if they can make a big run in March.

3 NCAA tournament appearances in 20 years and I don't believe in any of those 3 they made the round of 32. They haven't made it past the first weekend since 1999. So if I'm a St. John's fan, I'm estatic I have a coach that will have them in the conversation of making a run to the 2nd weekend. They weren't even playing in the Garden any more until Rick came back or were talking about moving out most their games until Rick got there?

Or? Should they be like "I AM SO EMBARASSED!!!! RICK WEARING ANOTHER TEAMS COLORS IS SO BAD THAT I WANT HIM GONE SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO LOSE! ID RATHER HAVE A COACH THAT DID NOT DO THAT AND NOT WIN GAMES!"

Brohm and other ACC coaches must protest the performance of these Officials

Just watched the replay of the Virginia game. For you fans who truly believe there is a conspiracy against us need to watch the last Virginia series when they were down 24-20. Actually I believe it was the 4 and 10 play where our defensive back clearly got there too soon and disrupted the pass attempt. Definitely pass interference on us but no flag. No guarantee that Virginia scores a TD but they definitely would have had a 1st down. Are officials bad and make or don't make incorrect calls? Yes! Are they conspiring against U of L? Unlikely!
That’s 1 play. We had the same scenario on a sit down route when the defender ran through our receiver’s back way before the ball got there…no call. Now do the rest of the game apologist.

If I'm a St. John's fan I'd be happy that my program matters again. Would you rather have a coach that embraces St. John's and goes to the NIT, or have a hall of fame coach that has you playing at your best level in a few decades?

IDK why we care if St. John's fans are mad are not, it just seems like it's mainly Louisville fans telling SJ's fans how they should feel. More like "I'm not mad and don't care about him, but SJ's fans should be mad!!!"

I don't know that he can do 20+ carries week after week. He didn't finish the game vs UVA as he was banged up.
He ran 20 times 😂. An injury can happen anytime. He was completely fine against SMU and average 11.7 yards a carry. We failed to score our last 3 possessions and Brohm never ran him, that I recall, on SMU’s side of the field those 3 possessions. Nightmares of Pitt last year when we would have won easily if you just kept running the ball.

And bc all of these idiot coaches are in shotgun to get 1 yard. Blows me away. Shotgun, now you have to get 5 yards instead of under center to get 1!
It makes very little difference because they don’t run straight dive plays anymore. The QB is always going back to the running back, all variations of a draw play. Everything is based on read anymore not running to a hole. Like I said, either punt, attempt the FG or run a sneak. In Louisville’s case they have a huge QB and should never get stopped.

I have zero use for him. Loved the hire but he did nothing but embarrass our University. One scandal after another (To much drama). He was responsible for the welfare of our program and he didn’t do his job. I don’t care what the excuse was. He couldn’t beat SuCk and I think that’s because he still had strong feelings for UK. And then this.
When asked if he thought he would ever wear KY blue again?
“Yeah I thought so, once I left Louisville, I would sleep in KY blue.” Pitino said with a laugh.
What scum bag, shows up for another D1 program midnight madness while coaching another D1 program. He’s a narcissist and we were the victim. Nothing good he did here can make up for what he did to our program. And the dick wants an apology. Classic narcissist.
I do get that he didn’t like how he was fired, but all of those people are gone, so now all he’s doing g is disrespecting the fan base, the same fan base that supported him through all the scandals.

It is not only possible, but in this instance, two (2) opinions can both be accurate. Zipp is 100% correct about UL Administration’s failure to follow TJ’s request by allowing time to sort out the facts, while UL fans are equally correct in their maintaining that Pitino is a very flawed individual.

Unfortunately, UL was the victim of an unprecedented FBI “hit piece” that was totally reliant on innuendo and rumor. It took years for the legal process to conclude that Pitino and UL were never provided with due process. TJ was denied his one request by Postel, Grissom & Schnatter …… just time to conduct a proper investigation.

History will ultimately show how all 3 of the aforementioned left UL shortly thereafter, having responsibility for the aftermath that our University experienced at the hands of the NCAA.

I repeat again, I have no affection for Pitino whatsoever; as my allegiance is to UL. I just find it difficult that so many UL fans have placed their anger towards Pitino, when in truth, it was the FBI, the NCAA and UL Administrators who acted on pure impulsive emotion, when a thorough investigation would have resulted in a much better outcome for UL and our fans.
