After a long, storied history, Sportstalk 84 will end when Lachlan leaves. As I had hypothesized, they are going away from a sports format and will have another right wing nut case, Mandy Connell, hosting a show in that timeslot. She will remain in Denver while hosting this "local" show.

So now local sports radio will basically consist only of "blue" or "red" affiliated shows. The era of affirmation, not information, continues on.

Lachlan is entertaining, regardless of what the crybabies say. It is fun to call in to and banter and argue with him. Sorry to see him leave. If he must go, it is good to see Mandy Connell return to the air, she was immensely popular here and had a huge audience. I will definitely be listening to what she has to say.

From what I have read from some posters, not nearly all, was that they didn't like Lachlan or the show. I did like Lachlan and the show as it was informative and controversial. The haters got what they wanted. If you want a sports talk show, don't go running it down.

That is one of the reasons I always listened. Being out of town, I always went to 840 to get my Cards fix going back to the days of Van Vance. Can't get 790 where I am and get overloaded with Reds and Bengals up here. I love Mandy, but I'd rather put up with a call from Minnie (for those of you old enough to remember) on Van's show than to listen to any more politics.

Lach wasn't bad. He was usually partially informed and could stir the pot. That I will miss. At least he didn't have Tony's annoying laugh.

I didn't realize that shows had to be represented by the fringes of the political spectrum. Anyways, my preference would be an unbiased sports talk show.

All I listen to is sports talk unless I've got the little ones. I can't stand Lachlame. I didn't see the informative part of the show but the controversial part, I did. He's an idiot! You like the show and many don't. So that makes them/us crybabies? I see!

If WHAS wanted SportsTalk, they'd hire a sports replacement. Clearly they wanted to go in a different direction. And I think 93.9 The Ville played a part in that.

The loss of SportsTalk hurts LPT interests in this community far more than U of L's. Lach managed to alienate both fanbases, but there aren't many local radio shows anymore split down the middle. ESPN is solidly in U of L's camp, even the AM 680 portion. (Some like Valvano and Anderson posture neutrality, but they tilt red.) And as much as I like to bash Clear Channel, their AM 790 shows are moderately to strongly pro-U of L. The Underdogs show is hosted by one lifetime U of L fan, and the other guy is an adopted fan. Lesser players like AM 1450 also tilt U of L.

And this is as it should be, reflecting an increasing U of L skew in this community.

AM 1080 is the only exception with Maddie's 2-hour nutfest. Jerry Eaves tries to balance his programming for some reason, but who knows how long he'll occupy his 1-hr time slot? No one prior to him has lasted more than a year or so.

The show in this time slot has been pretty interesting since Mandy Connell took over. Own real estate in Jefferson County? Better check your assessment. Apparently the PVA is into cronyism, as assessments of wealthy liberals has gone down in depressed areas like the Cherokee Triangle while those who are not politically connected have taken large increases. Posters have referenced V V as setting the standard. Before V V, WAVE had the UL rights, and ED Kally was the sports guy. WAVE even broadcast a select high school football game each week.

Besides Louisville sports, he did Colonel baseball and early ABA basketball. Never remember him saying " go cats." Was a legend in my eyes as he also hosted the magic forest on TV when I was a small child.

Lachlan was hosting the Terry Meiners yesterday on WHAS. It was really good to hear him again, I deeply miss his show as do many Cards fans. On his facebook page he is pictured with double V's. Mandy's show has been very good and very informative.
