I was standing directly behind the plate next to the guy with the velocity gun, and I could see the warmup pitchers were not in the strike zone, even at speeds between high 70s to mid 80s. I appreciated the Burdi brothers and others who had struggled with finding the strike zone when they were in the mid to high 90s; just cannot understand how 4 of those 5 relievers struggled so much with their control at those modest velocities. Again, CDM made it a point in post game interview, that “he saw fear in their eyes”. Hope they learn something from that experience, but it may speak more about the fragile nature of some of these kids.
