Former Louisville wing Wayne Blackshear didn't get his name called in Thursday's NBA draft, but the 6-foot-5 Chicago native will get a chance to prove himself in the NBA summer league.

The San Antonio Spurs have offered a summer-league roster spot to Blackshear, a source said Friday.

The Spurs are part of the Samsung NBA Summer League that runs from July 10-20 in Las Vegas. The league games will be played at the Thomas and Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on UNLV's campus, and both NBA TV and ESPN plan to broadcast some of the contests.

Glad the Spurs offered Wayne a chance at least, and I hope he can make the most of it and maybe make an NBA roster.

No clue what kind of interest he has in furthering the career. He could play overseas for good $ for a long time.

Who knows, maybe he turns some heads this summer.

SA loves to keep their draft picks overseas. They have a way of playing like, 15-20 different guys during a season, so if WB could somehow stick w/ their organization, he could get his # called from the D league. He actually has the physical size/strength but maybe not the foot speed or assertion.

Rooting for a good guy here!
