I didn't see the game so won't comment. Some fans aren't liking Kelsey's answer to the question. Your thoughts?

I think Pat is saying we are aggressive and doesn’t agree with a stupid question. If you watch the game, we are aggressive, and sometimes overly aggressive and we break down. Stupid stupid question

He struck out in his first at bat against the big boys - the pressure is going to continue to build. He’s going to have to win a few of these big games coming up, and the Bahamas will be some great opportunities - the combined record of the other 7 teams in the tournament is 27-3 (2 losses by Arizona and 1 by WVU). Five teams (Gonzaga, Davidson, Providence, Oklahoma, and Indiana) are currently undefeated.

I think the negative buzz is that some think he doesn't have a lot of accountability as far as guys being careless or not being physical and it seems to be okay. "Get 'em next time guys."

Pryor dribbling around the perimeter then throwing it away is hard for me to watch.

But I'm still very happy he's here. So so so much better that Captain Cluster F

This is what I've heard a lot.. just letting things go with no consequences.. It's not okay to dribble into traffic time after time and lose the ball and make bad passes and not be held accountable.

I know he's Mr positivity but that won't play here if he's not winning. If he wins, he can wear a clown suit to the games and do magic tricks at halftime.

The negativity in here is crazy. Tennessee is probably the best defensive team we will play all year, and they already have been beating ranked teams this year easily. That was our second game of the season and we couldn’t hit a shot. Y’all have to relax, a 15 point sloppy win early in the season is fine. You think our 3rd game into the season we were just going to be firing on all cylinders? Virginia tech only beat Winthrop by 6…. And we beat them by 15 and played like shit. Let PK coach however he wants to coach. I think so far he’s earned that much. If we get blown out every game in the Bahamas then we can discuss then. If he wants to back his players, then let him. KP all he did was blame players and we hated that.

You misunderstand my post - I certainly didn’t mean my post to be overly negative - just factual. This is what it’s going to be like coaching at a school like Louisville. He’s coming from a lower division school, so he’s going to have to prove he can win games like the one he had against Tennessee. It’s just a fact that, not only did he not beat Tennessee, his team was not very competitive against them. The great news there is that he’s going to have many more chances to prove himself with this schedule.

What’s definitely progress is that, after four games, we have doubts as to whether he can win those types of games. With the previous coach, after four games, we had no doubts at all - we all knew that he could NOT coach at this level.

We were all so super pumped to hear the positivity and see inspired play this summer, and then actually winning exhibition games, we fell in love pretty quickly.

Life after Kenny is like if you served 10 years in prison, the next female you see is going to look smokin hot to you. lol

But I think Tennessee is a legit Final 4 contender. They just bitch slapped Baylor. And they were locked in for us after the hype machine.

Maybe we're saving the real offense for this week. The one where Pryor doesn't dribble a million times on the perimeter and throw it away.

Just get better every week, hold kids accountable for STUPID plays is all I ask.

And don't make excuses.

Go Cards!

Coaching here requires winning and the fans here have a pretty good idea of what winning basketball looks like ..

This ain't Winthrop son..

His answer irritated me at first because I did not like the rebounding effort in the first half, but after thinking about it he’s just standing up for his guys.

Refreshing after KP was just throwing players under the bus left and right the last 2 seasons.

That’s what I was saying above. We trashed KP for throwing players under the bus, then get mad at PK for defending them… also we didn’t rebound well, but we did have 10 blocks. When was the last time we had 10 blocks playing above the rim?

As Valvono says, which he’s one I won’t quote often, we need to let the cake bake. I see two issues 1) The players are still gelling as a team and 2) CPK is experiencing a learning curve, as he’s stepping up in competition now that he’s in a big boy league.
He’s a smart guy that’s highly motivated he’ll figure it out.
Patience after Kenny will be tough, but that’s what’s required.

Good point, but I would argue that we aren’t mad at CPK for defending his players. We’re “mad” at him for not whipping Tennessee’s ass like UofL fans expect a Louisville coach to do more often than not.

With all the great teams there in the Bahamas, he’s going to have three great chances here tomorrow through Friday to make amends. He’s even had this team playing on this court earlier in the year, so I’m excited to tune in tomorrow and watch our Cards upset the Hoosiers.

A lot of Basketball fans will call me “Captain Obvious” for this observation, but this team shooting 29% from 3 explains our performance thus far. Losing to an extremely talented defensive team like the Vols by 22 points was not hard to predict in hindsight, but it we had hit some of those missed 3s, that loss would have been much closer.

Be honest, if you expect this team to win, it must improve its 3 point shooting percentage significantly …… starting today! Defense and rebounding must improve, but we will live or die by the 3 this year.

I think Louisville has been in a really weird spot for 5-6 years. They have truly been awful which is hard to understand. They hit rock bottom with KP. Kelsey came in did all the right things but let’s face it they missed on bigs that would have addressed the rebounding issue.

The game has change the importance of the bigs at the NBA level. The issue at the college level there are a handful of guy that truly play inside out. Pryor is a great example very skilled big on the perimeter but zero inside game. His value is in the constant movement setting screens and cutting. In theory that movement should free him up to rebounding better. When they don’t move offensively they are an easy block out. Defensive rebounding is pretty simple find a guy and be physical.

Tennessee completely stopped their movement offensively. We saw the results. Winthrop just made them uncomfortable. Edwards and Pryor were awful with their turnovers. Johnson being out is a killer.

Don’t care how a coach answers questions. Throw the kids under the bus or protect them. Each team has a different makeup. His job is to improve. He is a basketball junkie. He knows they have to rebound better.
