If you are one of those “we are getting into the playoffs as a 1 loss non-division winner” types, here is your official Week 7 rooting roadmap. The good news is that seven P5 teams lost their second game of the season this week: UNC, Texas Tech, Minnesota, Indiana, Colorado, Stanford, and Arkansas. That leaves 17 P5 teams with 1 or 0 losses, and it greatly improves our chances if that list gets whittled down to just 3 teams by the time the CFP committee has to make their picks.

Root for: Louisville over Duke on Friday night, obviously….

Root against: as many of these 17 remaining undefeated or one loss teams as possible:

ACC (3)
Clemson (6-0) hosting NC State
Miami (4-1) hosting North Carolina
Virginia Tech (4-1) at Syracuse
Wake Forest and NC State both also have one loss, but are irrelevant to this discussion, because in the 11-1 scenario, we play them and beat them.

Big XII (2)
Baylor (5-0) hosting Kansas
WVU (4-0) at Texas Tech

Big Ten (5)
Michigan (6-0) BYE
Nebraska (5-0) at Indiana
Ohio State (5-0) at Wisconsin
Maryland (4-1) hosting Minnesota
Wisconsin (4-1) hosting Ohio State

PAC-12 (3)
Washington (6-0) BYE
Arizona State (5-1) at Colorado
Utah (5-1) at Oregon State

SEC (4)
Alabama (6-0) at Tennessee
Texas A&M (6-0) BYE
Tennessee (5-1) hosting Alabama
Florida (4-1) hosting Missouri

Other games that can enhance our SoS:

Wake Forest at FSU. We play both, but an FSU win helps the perception of our strength of schedule.
Tulsa at Houston. As long as Houston doesn’t lose again they probably are in the top 15 when we play them in November.
