You see, it’s UC.

Mr King slowly heating up, too - nice solid single in his first AB. Get his bat going along with the rest and this lineup will be smoking.

EkJ gets one hit. I don’t see that as heating up. Moth mentioned his HR was normal fly out on mist days. Big wind pushed it out.
Unfortunately we, once again, have pitchers who cannot throw strikes. Can we start the ‘Get rid of Williams’ chants yet?

Well, I recall watching the VT games over the weekend and King’s average was below the Mendoza line. Now with that hit, it’s up to .222….

It also appears that the Virginia Tech broadcast crew from game 3 is operating the cameras in this one. Switching to show the bearcat mascot clapping above the center field wall while the second baseman is fielding a ground ball and throwing out Alicea at first.

ESPN+ yes - Cincy home games are on that streaming service. Teeing off on West at this point.

If Eddie's playing in a Louisville uniform, I'm rooting for him. If he's not in,I'm rooting for whoever else it is. I just want whoever is not playing to root for the team on the field because they want to see us win. I just want guys to put team before self.
That's how most of us came up,playing a role...for the team.
Btw,I think this game will be very high scoring. I expect us to climmmmb back in this one too.

ESPN + as a stand alone pay per view or subscription?
I have Sling Orange with ESPN 1,2,3 and Xtra

Tired of watching abysmal bullpen play and the opposing team always having more juice than us.
So embarrassing

I mean Cutts should be out of this inning already. Passed ball (tried to glove it instead of just blocking the ball), BS check swing walk, and a 2 run error. That said, cutts needs to throw more strikes (this ump’s zone is TIGHT). Don’t understand leaving West in there as long as he did just to walk guys or get shelled. So far this one is more on the starter than the bullpen but it is miserable baseball when guys can’t throw strikes

It’s a subscription service, $11.99 per month or a year subscription for $119.90. Not the same as espn3 and I’m not sure what Xtra is…do you mean ACC network extra? ACCNX is free as long as you subscribe to a TV package that includes ACC network.

You’d pick up a few UofL non-conference road games (like this one) by having an ESPN+ subscription.

Tagger Tyson is a disaster behind the plate and strangely enough does not even have a bio in the media guide.
The pitching staff is simply bad. Maybe MAC level talent.
Mac looks lost in the dugout but will recover and blame the losses on the lack of an indoor facility.
Williams is well Williams.
One player from the portal who has played consistently well.

Absolutely ****ing dumb. Already in scoring position and down 6 runs and you get thrown out stealing 3rd? I don’t care if he over-slid the bag or not, either bench him or replace the dumbass coach that put a steal on. Just mind numbingly stupid

Munroe and Pike have been good pickups from the portal in my opinion. I don’t understand why we keep giving guys who have been ass for 3 years opportunities. Let the young guys take their lumps now in hopes they develop (doubt it with this staff) into something good in the next couple of years. Instead we’ve gotta watch the same guys have the same issues that they’ve had the last couple of years. Just dumb

Well Klein is apparently out for awhile. So Tyson and Baker…hell put Zion back there

That was brutal to watch. Moth again calls out the Cards. Mac with no answers in the post-game show.

One of the biggest reasons they went to 5 World Series was their pitching staff. It wasn’t great but it was really good.

I can’t emphasize enough how bad it is to play on teams that have no pitching. We played at Parkway so our teams never had good pitching depth. It was a cracker box. It messes everything up, fielding and hitting. Can’t have an error because the staff will fold. Can’t have a bad day hitting because the staff gets torched.

McDonald is lost. Small example but in the 1st inning they get 1st and 2nd with their best hitter up he decides to bunt Rose. WTF like 2 runs is going to hold up with this pitching staff. It is early go for the big inning instead they just give an out away. Why would he even think that way after watching this pitching staff.

I've heard Mac say on multiple occasions the players have the green light to bunt if they see an opportunity. Not sure if that was a called bunt, or if Rose took liberty.

I like to think this is simply a mid-season slump. The Cards are 5-1 against top 25 teams, so we know what they are capable of. These last two games have just been so bad. Maybe it's a sign of things to come. Gotta turn things around this weekend.

I was listening so I didn’t see if it was a bunt for hit or sacrifice. Moth didn’t make it sound like he was bunting for hit. Let’s assume he was why would your best hitter want to bunt in that situation. Totally get it in the later innings not the 1st. Didn’t end of mattering.

I don’t know the staff doesn’t have a bunch of juice. All of them in the 88-92 range with poor control. They really don’t have swing and miss stuff. When they get behind they are really vulnerable and get smoked by the better teams. When they work out in front they are serviceable and can be pretty good like UNC series.

Cycle - what you mention about the pitching, unfortunately, this is what we have witnessed over the last four years. CDM will not make a change with Williams. So what are the options? There is talent on the staff. Yet, how was Cutts looking so outstanding and now, his last three (I think) mound appearances have been abysmal. Bad pitches - are the pitchers missing or are pitch calls from Willams ot any good?

To quote Moth [regarding arms] "I don't know if it is a lack of talent or a lack of focus?". I guess pick your poison.

If its one or two pitchers, it definitely could be lack of focus and we're not lack of talent so it is option C, Williams is passed his prime. He's done a hell of a job up until the last few years. Compound that with Dan's sticking by him no matter what sounds like a captain ready to sink with his ship. I wish it wasn't so. Not nearly as bad when most of us realize that maybe Denny needed to step aside.

Couple of things about Williams and it's just as somebody who watches them a lot, this year and the last 15.
I think Williams will call more off speed stuff if that guy can get it in the zone. When it's clear that guy is missing the zone, he's got no choice but to call fastballs and hope his pitcher can LOCATE those pitches.

Everybody and their brother hunting fastballs so location is everything. A real catch 22 for Williams I think.

I was thinking about it from the pitcher's side today too. I can't help but wonder about that" lack of focus " being due to guys not feeling like they're where they should be in the grand scheme of the pitching staff-not good.

Perhaps the answer is as simple as UL is no longer obtaining the services of pitchers with MLB-level talent like before. Coach Williams enjoyed a reputation as one of the very best pitching coaches in College Baseball. Did he forget, or lose all of that over these last several years, or are we witnessing a reduction in the level of talent and depth of players?

Hand in hand with the first part of my post above ☝️
The second part speaks to something different, the clubhouse.
