Crazy of me to look ahead, but Ive been watching these 4 4*'s highlights. And they have me quite pleased.

Who do you guys think as of right now, leaves after next year?

No one is projected in the mock draft, just an fyi.

I think we lose only the seniors, Mathiang, Levitch, and Hicks.

I think Mitchell is the best candidate to put his name in, but I think he's doing just harmful enough to bring him back for one more year.

What do you guys think?

Again, yes it's early, but Idk Im just excited to look ahead.

Merry Christmad everyone!

Deng enters the draft.

Matz transfers to Campbellsville.
Unless he needs the money, or just wants to live in Europe, Deng better stick around and develop some consistency and toughness to go along with his skill set.

I bet Matz does transfer - hope it's to Bellarmine. Don't understand why either he or Anas didn't get redshirted. I mean Pitino redshirts a 5'11" SG but not a 7 footer?

Didn't Matz already redshirt? Yeah, I could see him transferring to a place like Bellarmine.

I don't see anyone declaring for the draft. Then again, I didn't see Onouaku leaving last year either. They say Adel has more NBA potential than anyone, but the D league is loaded with 6'7" wing players that are great athletes, but can't shoot very well.

Nope he didn't. Typically Pitino doesn't redshirt guys because he hasn't recruited players that he didn't think could come in and play right away and, he is always trying to set classes up and doesn't want guys possibly taking up a scholly.

That said - multiple 7 foot projects in the same class is the ideal time to redshirt.

Do you think Pitino takes on too many "projects? I've always felt that he does, but it's just one mans opinion. He had such success taking on Nazr Muhammad at UK, it seems to me he's continually looking to repeat that feat.

With our self imposed scholarship reductions coming up, I think there won't be any projects for a couple of years. The scenario of Matz transferring could play into the reductions without impacting the current or next years class.

One could argue that Gorgui was a project and he turned out well. If they work out that's great if not then oh well.

I think that our definition of who is a 'project' has basically become any player who doesn't have the skill or size at their position to get click as a freshman. That said, both AM & MS were both projects in whatever definition you want to use.

I think that if Pitino had another recruit that could have contributed, he would have grabbed them, as he did not - he took the 7 footers. But hitting that dead horse one last time - why the hell not redshirt one of them?

Anas is clearly skilled but needed to get bigger and stronger to be effective. As I recall, those were the exact reasons Rick cited for redshirting RM.

I think everybody that can come back should come back.Add these young dudes to the mix and we're gonna be right in the thick again.

But first things first.I saw some things in that uk game that make me think about this squad and what they have unfinished. There was a desire I haven't seen in a minute to overcome what gets in your way to get the W.

I have no problem with Mahmoud and Stockman both on the roster. It's a numbers game. You can't take ONE project and hope he pans out. Two guys unfortunately take two schollies. But you don't even know that one blue chipper will pan out...

The answer to this question is how well the season goes. If this team gels and goes deep and is led by Adel and Mitchell, then both will put their names in the draft. If not, then probably not.

I also can see an unhappy player or two with playing time deciding to transfer. I'm hopeful his name isn't King.

If I am going to have 15 guys on a roster, I certainly don't mind having 4 or 5 6-10 or taller. One thing this team has more than previous years is size and length, which can't be taught. And they're not the same type of player. Mahmoud is more finesse but lacks an outside range. Matz, if he got stronger and more fluid could make for an effective post up player.

Hmmm... sounds like some good reasons to have redshirted them.

I just don't see Matz being a difference maker regardless of time spent. A person only has so much ability regardless of size, work ethic, etc.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see the athletic ability I see in him that I see in others. At best, fully matured I see a capable back up at most, and he's not there yet.

Again, just my opinion.

No because when Mahmoud was out with a concussion, we felt our inside game was vulnerable. Just like when Mango picks up 2 fouls in the first 5 minutes of the game.
They're both sophomores - I was advocating redshirting one or both when they were freshman and we had Chinanu. Or at least redshirt the one with the least chance to play and spread out the years that we have a 7 footer on the roster. I think that both of them have upsides - AM more so but Matz could certainly get to the point where he could contribute as a role player. I mean if mathiang is getting serious minutes - literally anyone could.

Both of their freshman seasons were essentially a waste.

They're both junior's now.

I think maybe it's the culmination of not expecting Onuaku going a year early and Mango being hurt for almost a full year, otherwise maybe CRP didn't feel like he could afford to redshirt one.

Ricky P used to redshirt kids later in their careers. I would love to see Stockman redshirted nxt year. That way the following year we would have a Sophmore Williams and a SR Stockman at center.

Have a question, was looking at the recruiting board today saw this kid with a Cards shirt on . He is M.J. Walker as 6'5" shooting guard 5* from Jonesboro, Ga. he has no offer from us. He must be pretty good has a offer from Duke among others. Do we not have room for or are we recruiting him.

Saw that too. Did you ever consider it could be his high school team's logo. That is a possibility.
