For his system and style of basketball? Well here's an article from 2018 on the subject. I wonder if the play style we see will speed up a bit once he is able to fully integrate a few of his own recruiting classes into his system.

(Continuing this conversation a bit from the Miami game thread).

Guards:

"He wants versatile guards," Richardson said. "He doesn’t want a prototypical point guards. He wants all of his guards to be able to dribble, pass and shoot. It sounds simplistic, but he doesn’t want to pigeonhole his guards. They’re going to be long, athletic and tough. ...

Bigs:

"He likes to have two different types of bigs: A physical, stereotypical (center) and then throw in your 6-9, long, athletic guy who can change the pace for you."

Beyond the aforementioned physical makeup, Mack also looks for a specific mentality in prospects. He prefers tough players "who can stomach the moment," said Richardson.

"They’re not going to back down," Richardson said. "Toughness is first and foremost."

I have seen his teams at X and as i've mentioned on here before. Until all Rick guys are purged from this team, We won't get to see his style which is very up and down and his players were hard and tuff.

Hmmm... good post. Reading into it a little deeper. Explains why we don’t have a true point guard or one that resembles one. The freshmen are Mack’s players and none of them are true PG’s. Prefers tough players which explains why Sutton plays a lot of minutes. Don’t have issues with that but how do we make the other players tougher or do we wait for them to show up. Haven’t seen enough of the FR to see if anyone in that group has the toughness he wants.
Sounds like we have the two types of bigs he wants in Enoch and Malik. It’s just weird that he doesn’t want to play them at the same time?

You can't play them at the same time because Malik doesn't give you the same production whatsoever as Sutton whom would be the spot Malik has to play . Problem Mack has to deal with not his fault . Sutton and Nwora are not ball handlers. If they were you could easily move one of them to the off guard spot . and place Malik in their or Sam you probably don't want both starting anyway because Malik backs up Enoch right now. Because Aiedon is nowhere ready for that.

That’s what I have advocated. Put Nwora at the off guard or shooting guard whatever you want to call it on offense with Sutton at the 3 and Malik at the 4. With the way Mack plays defense neither Enoch or Williams have come close to fouling out. Instead of simply substituting one for the other, if we need defense, put the Hulk in there if only to spell Enoch and he can be aggressive and pick up as many fouls. He’s expendable since he’s not playing at all right now.

It would be interesting to see that lineup for an extended period and if it could work.

But then maybe Mack has tried that lineup in practice and it hasn't looked good.

Sutton absolutely seems like the tough bulldog mentality type player that Mack wants in his system. But it seems he wants taller, longer guards that can better defend in the pack line.

It wont work and cant . Nwora and Sutton cannot dribble you cannot have just one ball handler on the court.

Sounds like Jay Scrubb and Traynor are perfect for his system.
Scrubb will be much needed if he comes ! Traynor going to be work in progress thats already been stated by coaches more of a high project upside kid. Needs to put on weight first and foremost.

I disagree. Notice earlier in the season when Perry and McMahon were in the game, it was usually Perry and Sutton who brought up the ball while McMahon goes down the court to set up on offense. Also if you notice Nwora has no issues of driving the ball the length of the court. He’s not a Harlem globetrotter but he can dribble the ball. In traffic when he goes 1 on 2 or 1 on 3 is when he gets in trouble.

WTH does this mean? Pitino didn't recruit players who could run the floor or were "hard and tough"?...

If those two could handle the ball do you not think Mack is smart of enough to have already changed to this lineup? Or i guess the NBA scouts do not know what they are talking about . Go research what is and was said about Nwora from Nba scouts. Sutton lol do you watch him with the ball .

Going to agree with my man Z here. Those are the type of players Rick did recruit.

We just see different style of coaching my friends. Rick was a hard ass but in the end the players and program were better for it.

I'm not saying Mack is a player's coach moreso than Rick I just don't know, we know Rick was effective to the highest level while Mack is so early in his tenure it's a TBD.

From a distance it appears Mack allows more offensive freedom, but obviously applies much less defensive pressure. Rick had that quick hook for blown D assignments as well as real bad shot selection. I don't think he'd allow as much free lance as what Mack is allowing. But Mack has yanked some dudes so it's not like it's THAT different.

They both probably want the same kind of players. Real good ones!

NBA scouts? Here is a scouting report on Jordan Nwora dated December 12th.
Nwora has the height, weight and above average ball handling skills to be a successful wing player in the NBA...
Further in the assessment, Nwora is a solid ball handler but has room for improvement...
I would say all that is adequate data for him to be able to be a 2 in college. Plus it also hints that if he really wants to be successful in the NBA he needs to work on his dribbling. We already know he can get his shot off on anybody.
Nowhere did I say Sutton should be the 2 but he does handle the ball from time to time. That’s why he remains a 3 in most schemes. Hell against a smaller quicker team, I wouldn’t mind seeing him in the 5 spot because he’s a good defender.

His above average ball handling to be a Wing player not a 2 guard . He cannot handle the ball out top and set up a offense as a off guard would also have to do. A wing players ball handling responsibilities are not running the offensive sets like guards. And every verbal interview on him they say he needs to work on his ball handling that he is very shaky.
I wish i could remember the show date . But a caller to Maybins show brought up Nwora being a off guard. Maybin who knows way more about BB than myself will ever know . I want say what you know or don't but anyhow. He stated Nwora ball handling is not good enough to be a guard period and that is one thing he wished Nwora would concentrate working on more.

I think you need to learn a little more about basketball... the 2 guard is typically the shooting guard and does not run the offense. That is the job of the PG. To say that Jordan has good enough handles to be a NBA wing player but is not good enough to dribble the ball as a college off guard is just plain stupid. Enough said. I won’t debate with someone who is so shortsighted.

I 'll just shut up for now on and keep my thoughts too myself . I'll just read all the great coaching on this board . Some excellent coaching advice on here hope Mack is reading he might learn a thing or two about coaching.

LOL your right i need to learn about BB. Glad Mack isn't listening to the board coaches .
Oh but he did. He replaced Ryan with Kimble in the starting lineup and did give DJ and SW more minutes.. End of the game against Miami when it got down to single digits, lo and behold he went back to Ryan and Perry. 0 points for Kimble...
