Since there are some long, athletic players on this years team, will we see more of a press on defense? Does Pitino run alot of plays where all the players touch the ball, or just play dribble drive?

I think we have a lot of drive and kick with this team on offense as well. Anyone on this team can hit a 3 or a jumpshot with the exception of Mahmoud/Ray unless Ray develops a jumpshot this off season

I think Sutton plays the 3...With CRP saying Adel will play at the 2 and I believe that is the spot that Bowen wants to play from what I've read.

Depending on what positions Bowen can play he adds much needed depth and overall depth regardless. He also adds more length to an already long team and is a good shooter I think. He is definitely another scoring option as well.

I don't think Sutton has 2 or 3 skills--not sure, but I believe he's in the mold of a poor man's Chane Behanan.

And do you dribble-drive or drive-and-dish guys recall Adel and King taking the ball in the lane last year? Just curious...

On the defensive side I think you will see man to man and a Syracuse type zone. I think we will press 94 feet 40 minutes a game because of our depth. We most likely will not use the match-up zone because it will be difficult for the young guys to learn. Also, when you play a lot of people(which I expect) its hard to get the communication you need to play the matchup effectively.

Would not surprise me if the Syracuse type zone becomes our primary defense because of our length.
We will be 6'6" to 6''7" at the 2 & 3 and 6'10" to 7' at the 4 & 5 most of the time. Hard to shoot over that type of length. Also it is much easier to drop into a zone off the press than it is to go man to man.

That would require a change in Pitino's defensive philosophy since I don't recall us ever playing that type of defense. Has he said he plans to do anything like that??...

if cards play adel at the 2 will ball handl and passing be a problem for the cards

Actually he has talked about it more in the past year or so. We did not play much if any matchup zone last year. We were mainly man to man. The reason I think it will become our primary defense is Snider is and will always be a below average defensive point guard. There is no hiding his lack of quickness. And when the PG gets beat off the dribble bad things happen as the defense rotates to help. Additionally, VJ was a very poor defender also, but not because of physical limitations. That may change with the year of experience and it may not. Finally I expect a lot of minutes out of the freshmen, especially Williams and Bowen. Perry will play every game and Kwora probably will too. Freshmen tend not to be very good defenders although RP says Perry is. For those reasons and the incredible length of this team if in fact Bowen and/or Adel play the 2, I think makes the possibility of a Syracuse style zone a strong possibility. Just a hunch on my part.

I certainly recall Pitino saying he was going to play more man-to-man to dummy down the defense. That's obviously not what the Cuse plays.

Pitino is defense-oriented. He only dummies it down as a last resort. It's not a good thing when our defense gets simpler to play. That's usually an indication that our team is worse defensively, and there's no reason to look forward to that with optimism...

I am not saying we will abandon man to man. But I would not be surprised to see 60% zone and 40% man to man. With the length we will have I think the zone could be pretty darn effective. One thing I have heard RP say more than once is most team's zone offenses are not as good as their man to man offenses.

SMH. Prime example right here of a mental midget who comes here with the sole purpose of trolling with a string of profane vulgarities; then to run back to his troll buddies, high five, and then scream unfair bloody murder when he gets banned for "nothing". ***Steelers2012

I think that CRP will definitely use the zone press more often with the length of this team
