Unless they really know they may not be able to play on Sunday, they are obligated to play a 9 inning game.
So why didn't they play two 9 inning games on Saturday? I see no good reason to play in crappy weather.
I think the bad weather was predicted to come through earlier in the morning, well before the scheduled start time.
Because there are rules.
NCAA baseball games can be shortened to seven innings if two games are being played in one day. This can be in the case of a scheduled double-header, or if a make-up game is bring played on the same day as a regularly scheduled game. A seven-inning game may be played on the final day of a series conference. Tournament games are also nine innings. (The NCAA has encouraged schools and conferences to play as many full nine-inning games as possible throughout the season.)

Another shaky start by one of our weekend guys :-(.
Looks like their closer from last year shut us down. Baseball is entirely different from basketball or football. Every team has an ace or stud and depending on matchups can shut you down. That is why it is important to take 2 out of 3 every series. Sweeps are great but hard to get. Not sweeping Western Michigan at home may tell us a lot about this year's team.

Weather could have played a part, but only minimally I would guess. Michigan probably sees a bit more harsh weather than Louisville, maybe not this year though. Either way we had a slow and lack luster performance on the mound and stranded far too many runners on base. We made their guy look like an absolute stud just because we couldn't get the bats going. This team will only get better as the season progresses. I see a lot of young talent on the team as well.
