The University of Louisville women's basketball squad got some very anticipated and positive news when they were informed that Lix Dixon and Elizabeth Balogun were cleared by the NCAA to play for the squad in the 2019-20 season.

They'll be huge contributors to Jeff Walz's squad.

If the Walz family started stringing Christmas lights and decorating the tree yesterday, it is because Christmas has come early to the occupants of the Koeber Center on Floyd Street.

Balogun, or "E" as she's referred to, is a 6'1" guard from Chattanooga, TN and was the freshman of the year in the ACC last season. She averaged 14.6 p.p.g and scored 437 points as a freshman. A season high of 35 points for her against UNC and she was 65-194 (.334) from three-point range.

Dixon, known as "Liz" is a 6'5" forward, hailing from Memphis, TN. She was named to the ACC All-Freshman team and averaged 11.0 p.p.g and 6.4 rebounds a contest. She had four double-doubles for the Yellow Jackets and her 192 rebounds ranks as fourth-highest for Georgia Tech freshmen.

Both were McDonald's All-Americans as high school seniors.

For those who have argued that Louisville needed a strong guard and dominating post player for 2019-20, your case is thrown out of court.

Both signed with Ga.Tech in early April of 2018. Both players entered the transfer portal in early April of 2019. 175 days later they were cleared to play for UofL.

The two faced Louisville just once last season in a 61-44 loss to the Cards at the KFC YUM! Center. They combined for 16 points and 16 rebounds against UofL. The Yellow Jackets out-rebounded Louisville that Sunday afternoon 46-32.

They are now "officially" part of a roster that is deep in talent, scoring and options.

Jeff Walz already had "aces in the hole" in this five-card draw game and just got dealt two more.
