We have regressed, Lamar has regressed in the last month. In the second half Bobby should tell Lamar to drop, make two checks, if nothing is there - TUCK IT AND RUN!!!

There is no doubt this is true. Petrino hasn't made much of any offensive adjustments after defenses made adjustments to Lamar. The OL is what it is and without Lamar we would be lucky to have won 7 games. The defense has regressed due to injuries and lack of depth. We haven't been able to get to the QB since September. We have a few weak links at DE and CB and that hurts against very good teams. The month off before the bowl game should do wonders and here's hoping it's the Orange Bowl.
conservative calls and always looking for a home run. short yardage plays are no longer on the table. all we do is look for a bomb.
recruiting is lacking no matter how these lovefest lousiville sites play it.
The DEFENSE has really stunk it up the last game and again today. They can't tackle anyone one on one.

UK's running attack has made a lot of good players miss this season. Benny doesn't go down really on first contact. Running has been one of the few bright spots for us this season and I honestly think Louisville did well for what I had heard about the UofL D coming into the game.

charlie strong defense and bobby p offense would be incredible. but something tells me that louisville loves mediocre football and will stick with the moron grantham.
Grantham is a good DC. Injuries just caught up and Johnson had a helluva game today. Healthy Harvey Clemons and healthy Shaq Wiggins would've made a huge difference today. Clemons played but wasn't near 100%. The game plan was to force UK to throw. They did, and were succesful. Tip of the cap to the victors.

We just don't look like a good team when we let unranked opponents break off yardage in big chunks like UK and other teams have done. A fundamentally sound defense makes an opponent work for every yard and we did not do that. We laid down today.
Stop the sunshine pumping we have looked like crap for awhile now alot three stars signed Bobby and his i don't know why he calls alot big bomb play calls. Playcalling has been suspect also.
Does anyone have any idea why this team has regressed though? I mean it's clear to everyone that the team we saw today was not the same team that beat the dog crap out of Florida State.
Program was not prepared to handle national spotlight week to week against opponents that didn't move the hype needle. Too much playoffs talk, too much Heisman talk, and the coaches failed to get the players to focus. It became too much about Lamar, too much about blowing teams out...
And not enough about respecting opponents and playing solid.
I think the complexity of Grantham's defense is analogous to Pitino's zone - when you have players experienced in it, it can be very very good - when you don't, like yesterday with all the backups, players are routinely out of position and not playing fast. I also think that the complexity of it creates delays in getting defensive calls in and results in confusion. Too many times yesterday the defense wasn't even close to being lined up when uk was getting ready to snap the ball and that's definitely on Grantham.
I would like to see the defense be more simplified allowing the players to play faster and more aggressively.
This was Florida state's problem at the beginning of the year. They made the adjustment and look at how they are playing now. A simple defense gives players confidence. Fsu has a lot depth and talent though so we may not see as big of a difference. But it would be an improvement.
Injuries played its part as well. Wiggins was hurt in the FSU game and still hasn't recovered. Josh Harvey Clemons missed the previous 2 games and wasn't near 100%. Not making excuses because injuries are part of the game. But the fact remains that our 2 best secondary players were hurt and we got burned in the passing game the last few games of the season.
we have to disect this Houston game and really be truthful of what happened. Our team has not been prepared since the clemson game.
