Hiya, Sweet Sixteen! Hello, Lexington!

Walz's wonder-women took matter into their own hands early in Sunday's game and, after a 6-6 start, went on a 28-10 run to ground the Marquette Golden Eagles by 18 in the YUM! Center yesterday.

For touching moments, productivity in the paint and "Durr-abilty", please continue to "Ten Things About This Game" below.

10) Love That Girl! And she loves you, Louisville. Myisha Hines-Allen decided to make her final game in the KFC YUM! Center a memorable one. Write her up for 24 points, 13 rebounds, dozen of fans hugged and one Cardinal Bird kissed yesterday. Also, a touching moment in yesterday's post-game presser -- when she couldn't go on, couldn't speak and just sat there with tears of joy brimming in her eyes. It was about the only time she was stopped all afternoon. #2 tries harder.

9) Don't be late! If you were tardy to the YUM! Center yesterday, you missed a heck of an opening quarter. 34-16 with Louisville shooting 77.8% (14-18). Two WBBers were already in double figures after 10 minutes, Asia And Sam, and they were 9-9 from the floor. Marquette had to wonder if they were having a bad dream or stuck in a bad reality. It was real, MU. Very real.

8) Stay out of the Paint! It was almost as if that "sign" hung in front of the Marquette bench all night. The Cards outscoring the visitors 60-36 in that different-colored part of the court and getting 42 grabs -- compared to MU's 26. You can take off the painter's caps and retire the brushes and rollers for a few days, Cards. No second coat needed. Report to Rupp Friday for more seasonal work.

7) Hi, my name is Durr. Asia Durr. Damn glad to meet ya. Now we've established that Muffett McGraw knows who she is, "Nite-Nite" continued the meet and greet with those Big East Birds. 19 points, including 10 in a frenetic first quarter -- where the only thing she was missing was seeing the fans without beers or coming out of the bourbon bars. Kudos to Walz for pulling her, Sam, Myisha and Jaz with 1:19 left and allowing the fans to shower them with a little love.

6) SAM I am. Another huge effort from the steady and solid forward from Jersey. She had 13 of her 19 points in those first ten minutes and also introduced herself to Marquette forward Erika Davenport after the Eagle showed a bit of chipp-i-ness on a possession battle. Uh, Erika -- you picked the wrong Bird to try and ground. Sam does not get along with offending opponents at times.

5) Go, Attack Yorkie, GO! Paulie was pleased as punch that Jess Laemmle got in late and knocked down her only attempt --a trifecta-- with 30 seconds to go. You put her on ANY DII team and she's a starting point-guard. Seeing her face light up after the bagger showed, though, that she's having the time of her life at Louisville and is everyone favorite Attack Yorkie. Jess'sum!

4) I hope we don't see them next year. All five of Marquette's starters yesterday are juniors and they have just one senior, like Louisville, on the squad. They're already a pretty darn good team and next year they could be the Beast of the Big East. Let's hope they don't land in the Cards regional bracket next year...we'd prefer easier "first two" matchups visiting the YUM! Three bona-fide All-conference performers in Hiedeman, Davenport and Blockton on Kieger's squad.

3) Pea-less whsitles. Thanks to the crew of Karen Preato (Pony-tail Jr.), Benny Luna and Denise Brooks. For once, they limited the foul calls and let the players play. No one fouled out and only 29 were called -- about seven a quarter. Brooks has been a notorious stopper-of-action in prior visits to Louisville and I'm glad she wasn't that ref yesterday.

2) No Syd the Kid? Walz never got around to inserting Sydney Zambrotta into the contest and we never found out why. Inquiring minds want to know. Even a cameo appearance at the end would have allowed the crowd to give Jazz Jones a round of applause she deserved. We'll not question Jeff any further on this and let it go.

1) Funny (or not) moment. Owner of River City Cards Mike Gilpatrick needed a little coffee Sunday morning (he was up and going to his part-time job at 4 a.m.) but got to wear it instead of sip it. An errant orb found its way to where his table was and deposited the still-warm wake up juice into his lap. Paulie commented he should have crumbled up a donut and deposited that there, too.

I wonder about the boy sometimes.

- Sonja (with grudgingly assisting Paulie who is nursing two sore knees this morning). Old man...
