Great time in Bowling Green last night watching the Cards take WKU by 22. The big guy and his merry band of pranksters have a huge recap over at the CC site, "board" at your own risk. Jared and Paulie can get "wordy".
My five takeaways::
1) ON "THAT GIRL". Yes, Ms. Durr is an eighth wonder of the world. When the WKU players were asked about A.D. post-game, they just kind of shrugged their shoulders and said words to the effect of 'we couldn't find her or stop her'.. (Maybe she's added a cloaking device to her other many talents?)
2) Let THREE-DOM Ring. Asia's seven trifectas were so effortless. Arica Carter, who did not start but played 19 minutes with reckless abandon added four. Kylee and red-shirt freshman Lindsey Duvall cashed in on a couple as well. Stuff coming from the sky that rivaled the eclipse that rolled through Bowling Green a bit back.
3) They got a good one. Watch Alexis Brewer the rest of the year for the Toppers. Her 22 pts. included 12-16 free throws. This transfer-in from WVU has faced the Baylor's and Texas's of women's college basketball. Imagine what she'll do to Conference USA.
4) If you got 'em, play ,em. Walz did. All 12 that made the trip saw at least four minutes of action (Jess Laemmle) to 26 minutes (Jaz Jones). A good chance to see how the newcomers would fare and try different combos. And Walz did. I think the only one he didn't put on the court was... me, Paulie, Sam Purcell, Big Red and Nick Curran.
5) Replacing Myisha minutes. It looks like Yacine Diop garnered the most of those and she turned in a Myisha-like double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. How that might change down the road is anyone's guess, but it's now perfectly clear why Walz wanted her for just one year..
