A strong start to the fourth quarter propelled Louisville past Nebraska WBB 85-68 last night in the KFC YUM! Center in front of 7334. 8-0 run for the Cards. Then, it got weird. (See below)
I listened on the radio. Here's:
FIVE THINGS ABOUT THIS GAME:
1) She's "Durr-rific" !! Asia said "nite-nite" to the Huskers defense with 25 points and four threes. One of four in double-figures for the Cards, she was the benefactor of great passes from her teammates and 8-17 shooting.
2) The return of "TV Dee". If it's a big crowd or televised contest, it's likely pony-tail will be running the court. She put in an early season OSCAR performance last night with...wait for it...two technical fouls called on the Cards (Durr and Walz). Now...that's entertainment! Sitcom coming this spring..
3) Oh, no...she just didn't !! Jazmine Jones got the crowd up and roaring when she took an alley-oop pass from Asia Durr at the pinnacle of an amazing leap and kissed it home for two. I didn't see it, but Paulie says she could have dunked it. Over the Nebraska trees. Nice air, J.J. !!
4) Win the quarters, win the game. Louisville took ll four quarters and used a 8-0 run in the fourth to put this one away. Nebraska countered with a 9-0 run late, around the final three minutes of the contest -- aided by four technical free throw makes without the clock moving. Did you really need to call these, Dee? OK, Asia bounced a basketball a bit too hard. Whatever. Did you really think Jeff was going to smile and nod in agreement? The Huskers last lead was 11-10, right before the first quarter media timeout. Quarter breakdown -- 21-14, 19-17, 22-19, 23-18.
5) Post play. The Cards got a total of 22 points and 19 rebounds from Kylee Shook and Sam Fuehring. Fuehring with the double-double (14/10) and Shook just missing. The Louisville interior has improved dramatcally since the opener against WKU and I see it continuing to get better. Bionca Dunham added 11 points for this three-headed monster that dwells in the painted area of the arena by the river. BWAHHHAHAHAH !!!
7-0. A nice win over a team that will make some noise in the Big Ten. Overcoming height with speed and precision passing. Forcing 23 turnovers. 11 steals. A lot to like last night. It sounded just as good on the radio as I'm sure it looked to the attendees and internet viewers. The Final Four banner hung with care, in hopes that another will soon be there. Thanks for moving it to the end zone. Keep the most successful coach on campus happy, Vince.
TSU next on Sunday. Cheer on Volleyball tonight, too. They'll have their hands full with Dayton.
