Louisville Volleyball visits UNC today for a 1 p.m. match against the TarHeels.

SCOUTING THE FOE:

The UNC volleyball team (15-10, 7-7 Atlantic Coast Conference) returns to Carmichael Arena, hosting # 5 Louisville at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. The match will be streamed on ACCNX

Last time the two met, Louisville won 3-1 in Louisville on Nov. 13, 2022. Louisville has won the last six matches

The two biggest offensive threats for UNC are Mabrey Shaffmaster, in her sophomore year at UNC, and Charley Niego,. Niego is a transfer in to UNC from Notre Dame, and, bluntly, part of why Notre Dame just isn't very good this year.
She and Shaffmaster have combined for 622 kills this season.

The Tar Heels have had five ACC Freshman of the Week honors this season, the most of any school in the league. Anita Babic has three honors and Maddy May has two

In Louisville, the Cardinals outhit Carolina .217 to .155 and out blocked the Tar Heels 12-7.5, but Carolina won the service ace battle, 6-5. Louisville committed a season-high 14 service errors. The Cards won the match 17-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-23.

Make that a solid 3-0 sweep. Anna rotated to the front line too. That was great to see. She appears to still be a little stiff with some of her movements but that is to be expected.
