I'm sure all of you who are active on the premium board in particular have noticed that with Jack Coffee being even more involved with his church consulting passion and Howie Lindsey getting a once in a lifetime gig to handle PR for a professional sports franchise, the time for a change in leadership with this beloved institution has come.

Jeff Spalding, his son Ty who all of you have interacted with on the boards, and I have formed our own group to pick up leadership of the site and take over content production. I'm honored that Jack thought of Jeff and that Jeff and Ty thought of me when looking to find new leadership for the site. Still, Jack is going to be the elder statesman of the site and he won't be going anywhere. This is primarily an accounting move to allow the three of us to compensate sorely needed new content producers. In all the ways that you long term subscribers have enjoyed, this will be the same CardinalSports.com you've always known.

I don't believe you'll notice much of a change in your day to day or hour by hour interactions on the site other than an ocean of new content we don't believe you'll be able to get anywhere else. You'll still see articles from Jack. You'll still see Matt Willinger active. You'll still see many others doing what they've been doing. But you'll also see a lot more than I believe will justify the money you already spend to be members here.

CardinalSports.com means a lot to me on an emotional level. I started interacting with Louisville folks here before there was a Twitter or other outlets and it was the crucible where I worked up the nerve to start blogging, which led to part time radio gigs, which led to TV and radio opportunities, which led to full time radio work, which led to me being able to now becoming publisher and lead the next chapter in this storied site's life.

As almost all of you know I already host an afternoon drive time radio show 3:00-6:00 on 93.9 The Ville. That will continue. Most of the content for the show overlaps heavily with what is needed for the site. So this is not an enormous increase in workload for me. I'll be contributing articles and providing subscribers with breaking news and insider stuff as I receiver. I think last year with stuff like Russ Yeast leaving and coming back, and Jordan Travis leaving, I've demonstrated the ability to bring you accurate inside info without being under the thumb of anyone at UofL. There's a need and use for that.

In addition to what I and Ty plan to contribute on a daily basis, Dave Lackford is back on a full time basis starting now. So you'll see roughly 15 articles a month from Dave in addition to premium board content and interaction. Dave and I have spent the last few weekends talking and visiting schools and Aspirations Gym making sure any local scoop comes here first.

When it comes to basketball, starting June 1st, Jake Weingarten will be doing exactly the same thing Dave Lackford will be doing on the football side. I know many of you have seen that Jake is uniquely connected to recruits and the six freshmen about to join the team this summer. He'll also be a student at UofL this fall so I look forward to this chance for professional growth and development for him and the site over his years in school.

Finally, I think Howie deserves credit both on this site and on his morning show, to mirroring Tom Jurich's commitment to increased visibility for women's sports. I love Jeff Walz and have developed a good relationship with Holly Aprile among others. We'll continue that legacy of giving all of those sports the attention and coverage they deserve.

Due to the mountain of paperwork and logistics it takes to transition an existing site in the network, total leadership won't on paper finally be transitioned to us until either 6/1 or 7/1 at the very latest. But functionally I hope you've all noticed the uptick in content because we're not waiting for the paperwork to get done to provide all of you who are members the info you deserve.

If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to message me or Ty Spalding. I look forward to serving you all going forward and working to make this the singular place for the best and most accurate information on Louisville athletics. I've always believed in being my own man and being independent. So that'll be what I hope the reputation of this site is going forward. One that tells the truth and isn't beholden to anyone but the customer: you.

We have so much planned and we're excited to get started.
