Unpleasant news...I thought he was our best lineman even though he clearly was never 100%.
Its a situation where we could pay him, but they don't think it's worth it to pay him what he's asking.
There are programs who are
1. Desperate for an OT and will pay the price
2. Have loads of money and depth and it won't hit
We have enough money to build a solid team, but we aren't loaded like a program like Tennessee is right now. We have to spend wisely and Monroe has questions and we can't spend on that and we have good OL depth. Jeff feels like it wouldn't be right.
This one sucks but Sylvester really came on late. I would say OT are over priced but he is a proven player. His actual production supports a big pay day. Having a really good left tackle is extremely important.
So did we get all the tranfer (starters) OLs coming in on the cheap?

That’s why I called it the “money portal” because this was a decision made solely on money!
To me this was a business decision on both sides. The market dictates players movement. Total guess but they have been negotiating they couldn’t come to an agreement. More than likely it was a pretty big gap.
Hicks is he got paid no reason to get in a bidding war.
Yeah. I was really disappointed in this one because it looked like Hicks was going to be the next guy up. I don't know maybe he looked at the credentials of the guys coming in and felt he had a better chance somewhere else.

Mills probably doesn’t want to leave but his agents are taking calls. If you get this number I am moving on. Borderline NFL guy so he has to take advantage of the small window. Explains the timing of his decision.
What I don’t get why bring in all the portal lineman if Mills coming back was possible. He is a proven commodity in your system. To me that is with a significant bump in his pay. Instead of bringing guys the staff has no idea if they will fit. A good right tackle is every bit as valuable as Brown or Watson. I don’t know the $$$ and maybe an injury situation as well. Just seems odd they let him walk.

It’s a pattern with Mills VA is his 4th school in 4/5 years! He wants to be where the money is it’s another money transfer.
I don’t think he is worth a late bidding war especially if you have quality pieces coming in .
Who knows who is spending. If I told you BYU was going to get the highest paid BB player before all this started that would be shocking right?
