Good post
Pitt is down (2-4) but they do have talent on the team (Rivals) which has been collected over the years.
This year (2024 recruiting) Pitt has 21 players with a Rivals Team Ranking of 32.
This year has been extremely disappointing and I am not sure we will be able to get to a Bowl (6-6) with our remaining schedule.
However, I am optimistic that we may have found a starting QB that can further develop into a good QB this year and return for the next 2 years.
The kid had all the pressure on his back, starting his first game against the #14 ranked team in the country.
I also realize that you cannot read too much into one game but his first trial by fire was a success.
As one of the other posters pointed out, Pitt's problems have been their lack of offense which finally resulted in the QB change.
Louisville has a good team and I saw how Louisville was able to handle ND who just beat USC yesterday.
Good luck the rest of the year.
HAIL TO PITT!!!!
As our fan base is learning, the Power 5 ceiling is harder to break through.
Every team and fan base outside of the elite pretty much has bad losses every year. The only years I can say we didn’t have a terrible loss were 2006 and 2013. And in those years we weren’t in a good league either, so our really good teams could just run past them.
Our fan base saw us rise quickly and just assumed it was easy. Some of our fans assume that the right coach and an uptick in talent means we’re headed for national relevance and such, but we ignore that programs like Pitt are talented too and invest well in their programs too.
So many just assume it’s easy and lump too high expectations on a guy Jeff Brohm, even when he’s doing amazing and had an all time program altering win a week ago. But it’s not easy. Our 2014 team probably had our most talent ever, but even that team only went like 9-4. Which was a very great year considering how tough our ACC division was that season and the injuries we dealt with.
We’re in great shape. I always tell people to be cautious, but also be excited for where we are. I think Jeff is the right guy and Satt had a ceiling, but many don’t even realize how 2018 could’ve been catastrophic and the fact we were right back to being a competitive ACC program immediately was awesome.
Moving to the ACC means it’s harder. Cincy and UCF showed what we would’ve been had we stayed behind in the AAC. They got national rankings and all that, but we knew they were a bit inflated. We’re fighting with the Power 5 teams now. We’re where we belong. Let’s keep it moving!
