If Kelsey wants a 10 man rotation, he needs 13 D1 level players, injuries are not accidents, they are predictable. If there was any lesson learned in this first year under Kelsey, is that we must have quality depth able to contribute throughout the course of the season, as our kids were literally worn out from playing way too many minutes by the time we get to post season.
No one remotely associated with the NCAA ever thought about the effect that NIL and the transfer portal would have on academic performance. Not sure how long that requirement will be practical.
Anxious to see who we can attract in the portal.

Definitely need more quality depth all around. I know he was planning Aly and Kobe for next season but he probably shouldn't take two injured redshirts like that again.
Who do we have returning for next year the announcer in today’s game said Smith was returning. I know at Senior day not all the seniors were called out because they were returning. I remember Hadley was one of them I also heard we were still the front runner for Nate Ament. So many pieces to the puzzle that could change on a daily basis.
Pryor just announced he is coming back.

My guess is that we try to get two portal guys (assuming we get Ament). I think we get good shooters in the portal.

I'm not so sure Hadley will be back and depending on what transfers want to come here, Rooths and the two who redshirted may move on as well.
If Ament signs, I think Kelsey may not need to go after as many transfers, but all of this really depends on the caliber of the possible transfers. If multiple transfers that are top level dudes are interested in coming to Louisville, Kelsey isn't going to pass on them.
I have no idea how good Kalifa and Koby are. They may be great but I think they may be more like Scott and Rooths. Kelsey may want to upgrade and he may need to?
Hadley was a undersized wing forward this season. He may want to continue that as he's not a high level shooting guard. If Kelsey gets a couple taller wing transfers, Hadley may believe he will play less next season here?
There's many factors and I only really see the two signed freshmen and Pryor the only for sure Cardinals next season. Even James Scott could move on if he's recruited over. His relationship with Kelsey is strong though so I believe he will be back regardless of who Louisville may get in the portal.
The coaches rave about Kobe’s skills - he will be here. And Kalifa is considered the best passing big in the country - he will be here. Not sure what Hadley does. I think he is a great glue guy but I agree that his minutes will be cut.
Really the math just doesn’t work for all of Scott, Hadley and Rooths to return. I would love for all to come back but if we land Ament Rooths becomes a virtual Redshirt and those don’t exist in College Basketball in 2025. I have assumed we never really had Koren though that is the kind of player you want…combo guards aren’t as common as they used to be and he flat puts points on the board. We need bucket getters.
If I had one crying need it is a scoring athletic wing…if Khalifa sticks people that athletically run the baseline off screens and into dribble handoffs become like platinum. Like QB or LT in football a great wing scorer makes a whole bunch of people a lot of $$$ in college basketball.

Good to see the money is there to bring in a top notch roster. The staff has to be smart because you have to have the right piece to support Brown and Ament (if they get) early on.
Yeah, I was missing Koren on my list. Not certain he is back though.
We should know on him by end of next week if he will be back. This could be a very small portal class.

Definitely need our center to be some kind of scoring/shooting threat. James playing starters minutes is just too limiting offensively to win at a high level and his defense doesn't make up for it either.
8-10 million buys you what maybe 3 decent players? Then what happens to the current players on the roster who ain't getting that money and say a team offers money to Rooths, Hadley, even Pryor? Does any of that money have to be spent on current players to keep them. Do you sacrifice some players in order to try and get better ones? This NIL is a freaking Frankenstein... Loyalty and trust is a thing of the past.
I don’t know but I know they said last week that we were in the lead for Nate Ament with $87,000. Duke was second at $36,000 and sUcK was 3rd at $20,000. Things have probably changed but I don’t think it is in the millions.
That is Fanstake which is little more than a PR website. Louisville's contributions to that are alot more from garden variety fans with the highest from two different fans being 2600.00; an anonymous Duke fan contributed $20,000 to put it into context.
Ament's NIL will be an accumulation of different donors and one of the reasons things seem to be sort of covert with his recruitment outside of that Fanstake number is like Mikell Brown I suspect a good chunk of the NIL money might come from Adidas. That would make NIL contributions greater than $8-10 million since that is a reflection of the Louisville collectives. Adidas falls outside of that.
I read an article today that there is over 1.5 billion dollars be invested in NIL. Most of it coming from billionaires. Phil Knight from Nike donating millions to Oregon. The Walton family donating millions to Missouri etc.
This is what is destroying college sports. Big money will rule the day and only those universities with supporters like that will survive.
