UofL -35 against Kennesaw State tonight

I know it's necessary to play these cupcakes so coach has the luxury of tinkering with the rotation without it costing a win but these games are brutal to watch, AND the chances of someone getting hurt in a meaningless game increases IMO because the players aren't as focused as they should be.

I really don't care if the Cards cover the spread. I do care about potential injuries derailing the season. My ONLY hope (other than the win of course) is everyone comes away from this game healthy.

I hope everyone stays healthy from here on out as well. We know all too well how a team and season can be derailed by injuries. Unfortunately injuries happen and can happen at any time or against any opponent. In these sorts of cupcake games Pitino's main focus is on improving defense- rotations, assignments, defensive schemes/looks, etc. and looking at whatever else he thinks needs improving. But I certainly am looking forward to ACC Conference play coming up soon.

I know am in the minority. I like these games. I enjoy seeing the development. I like seeing new wrinkles in the things the guys worked on.

It would be even better if every game was against a top 25 team but I don't hate these games.

You beat me to it. I get it that Rick and Al Skinner are old friends and nothing wrong with helping a buddy out.

It's also Hard to argue with Rick's philosophy on scheduling with the results of the past 4 seasons but I honestly don't see how you get much out of playing a team like this.

Kennesaw can't get the ball inside 20 feet of the basket on offense and now our guys are getting sloppy. Just awful to watch so far.

It's good to see coach Skinner looking so relaxed. This one game will probably put the athletic program for Kennesaw State in the black for the year.

You get nothing out of this game, competitively speaking. What you do get is another $1-2 million for the athletic department and the arena.

When the importance of those factors disappears, so will the Kennesaw States on our schedule...

I'll also add the schedule may have been created prior to knowing we had Lee/Lewis coming aboard.

Give it a couple weeks, then every game is tough.

Our defense needs a lot of work. A lot. This is the first year in a long time that I don't feel like every player is on a string on defense. The unlimited practice time will do us wonders.

I think we've been spoiled with the last group of defensive guards we've had Siva, Smith, Jones, and Rozier. Those guys picked pockets, hounded PGs, drew charges, you name it.

Lewis and Lee are good defenders, but maybe not the + defenders we've seen over the years. Q has work to do, he's not the best defender.

I like the ability to block shots down low, but I do agree with you, the defense overall has a long way to go. I think we'll get there, these guys really seem to respond to Rick and that's good to see.

Yeah, our schedule should really toughen us up for the ACC schedule.

Agree with the point regarding the defense. Mitchell is a ball hawk and he's just a frosh. He'll get better. Lee and Lewis are who they are. They're 5th year seniors so what you see is what you get regarding defense. Q is better this year than last year. No reason to think he won't improve more.
