Coaches leaving, players quitting, two studs de-comitting. Mitchell will address this mess with Wednesday press conference. Maybe we have a chance of finally beating them this year.

Let me guess.. Another super bowl theory? Ask Jeff walz if the game doesn't mean anything. Losers are losers and nobody likes to lose or accept loss except maybe..
Ask Mathew Mitchell if he'd trade those wins for Jeff Walz's success, I bet he would.

So let's see. What your saying is that if U of L loses to UK during regular season, they will do better in the NCAA tournament? Didn't happen this year. Both teams were 3 seeds but UK went a round further...

Typical kittie. All you pretend to care about is men's bball because you think you are the king of it.

I don't need to pretend to not care about an unwatchable sport. I care about WBB as much as I care about synchronized swimming, modern pentathlon, and field hockey. And FYI, hockey and golf both outrank basketball for me, and UK is hardly good at either of those.

If you've forgotten the argument... The only time we beat LPT in any sport is when the outcome of the game has little value outside of the rivalry for some of our remaining little brother fans, maybe like yourself. Declaw their women's basketball team and we win--whoopee.

That's certainly true in the 'big four': men's and women's basketball, football, and baseball. The last sport is the only one in which we consistently beat an LPT team of some quality. So we're continuing to schedule LPT across all sports because of how good the baseball wins are.

Walz would tell you honestly that the game is a distraction, that he already plays a tough schedule, and yes, that he has bigger fish to fry. Not proving that one year doesn't invalidate his goals and how he runs his program.

"Elite program", my a$$...

Let's see UK is 61-38-1 in the U of L series. Recent history, McDonnell is 10-9. Research facts before you start your reasoning. Also I would much rather rely on what Coach Walz says and not some internet junkie.

Current and recent play is what's important.

And every U of L coach except for Petrino calls the LPT game "just another game". That means that the media and some of the fans overplay it. Among our coaches, that's not just true of Walz.

They won't come down strong with that opinion in front of a mike because of the outcry of little brother types still in our fanbase. And I don't blame them for that...

There are ties in baseball?

I guess there was one sometime. I would like to know the story... Probably a fight broke out or called for darkness before they had lights.

UK invents a new type of ONE AND DONE! ONE AND QUIT!

UL has handed UK 3/4 in WBB. Credit to UK and the fact they have had very good teams. As recent history would show - yes, UL has gone further in the tourney than UK. Whether we beat them or not isn't the indicator. The issue was - going futures in the tourney has greater importance than one non-conference game. That doesn't mean we don't want to be UK and beat them soundly - but a larger picture is much more important in a sport with 20-30 games.

Probably just a woman's sports thing. We suck at football but for some reason I still muster up some care every year just to be let down slowly by a 4-1, 5-0 start only to finish without making a bowl game.

I think the game is important for both sides. The problem for WBB at both schools is that they run into UConn in he tournament. Luckily for the Cards it isn't until the Final Four. For the Cats it has been twice in the Elite 8.

Unless you're a player. If you never have been one your statement is understandable.
Newsflash for ya... We're not keeping LPT on our schedule(s) because the players look forward to the game. I'd guess a far fewer % of the players care as much as the fans.

Still yet, one more UK women's basketball player leaving the team according to Jen Smith:

Kentucky confirms that yet another player, this time sophomore forward Alexis Jennings, is leaving the program.

Bullitt East's Duvall decommitts as well. Hopefully Walz can land this kid, athletic and a very nice player.

As a player you care less who you play than how you play. That's every game and why they get scholarships. They/re not overly concerned how the fans feel although some fans would like to think they are.

So you would be right.

The reason why this is so is that there seems to be less home town talent that want to play for the Cards or maybe recruited by the Cards. It used to be the Derek smiths, the McCrays, wagners, would spend their summers playing ball on the playgrounds here. They became idols in the community and knew how important the game meant to the fans. Couple that with the good old country boys that played for UK made it a good rivalry even when teams weren't so equal in talent.

Many of our fans either live in the past or think we share the same cubicle that they do adjacent to a slapd!ck...

Duvall will have a solid career. She's a gym rat and along with the 2018 commit from Mercer County Walz has landed two very good Kentucky kids. I think he gets a NCAA title in the next 5-6 years, maybe two.

Chatting with Tick Rogers yesterday at Crawford Gym. Asked about his daughter. She left uk in mid season and is going to WKU. Michelle had recruited her when she was in Louisville. Ellen (the coaches who say beating uk isn't a big deal happen to be those who can't beat them....Bobby loves beating them:)

That's good for Bobby, and I'm glad he feels that way. (Beating the slappies is also easier in football that just about any other sport...)

But it's an old school way of looking at things for a nationally prominent athletics program. We don't measure ourselves against LPT so there's no reason to act like they're more important than other games on the schedule. I understand how it may feel to share a cubicle with a slapd!ck, but that's not baggage on the rest of us.

And I think Coach Mac keeps the LPT games in perspective even though he has no trouble beating them...
