Very happy with the win today obviously, but now to look ahead to the game that will honestly make or break our season at this point. And I hate to say it, by UK seems to be the worst matchup possible for us.
Two very good runners, one a power back and one a change of pace back behind a very solid o-line. A QB who isn't a gunslinger, but is efficient, tough and can make you pay with his legs and largely takes care of the football courtesy of the very basic and simple passing attack they utilize. A very good TE who they use very well and get involved off of their strong run attack. Sounds like a mirror image of Boston College offense to me with better threats on the outside at receiver. However, with Stacy Thomas back I am hopeful he covers up Conrad for much of the game, we'll be able to put more guys in the box against them than we were against Syracuse who runs that up tempo spread which might help with the run defense which, to nitpick, wasn't actually outstanding today (averaged around 5 ypc with their backs mostly up the gut). Jaire is playing out of this world and can hopefully make Johnson pay on a long ball or two he floats too much. Definitely think we have our hands full and they will put up some points on us but if we can force a few turnovers and get a few stops I don't think their defense is going to have much luck stopping us either.
Lamar playing out of this world, our new tailback duo really creating some balance on offense and allowing Bobby to commit to the run game. Deep shots are opening up because of it, I just really like where our offense is at right now and UK's defense has left a lot to be desired. Just got gashed by GA rushing attack and have struggled with dual threat QBs themselves, and we have the most dangerous one probably in the history of college football. Gonna be a shootout in the 30s or 40s in my opinion and I am much more hopeful now than I was a few weeks ago. Thoughts?
