"He wasn't ready for the challenge."
"I have made a career on reading people and could tell he was never excited about the opportunity."

He went on to say that coming home can be a daunting challenge and he understands that. Also said that it was 100% not about the money and he would have received every penny from Louisville that he is going to get from Purdue.

I like Tyra more every time I hear him speak. We are in good hands.

Inane comment Zipp coming in 3....2....1....

I believe him too. Brohm simply used his alma mater to get more money out of Purdue and he didn't want to take on the challenge and the expectations which are tied to the UofL job. He can make more money and stay at Purdue where he won't be expected to take them any further than a possible New Years Day bowl. I mean it's Purdue who has been to only 18 bowls ever, and soon to be 19 counting his 6-6 team this year. He is now responsible for back to back bowl games for Purdue. That hasn't happened since their back to back bowl losses in 2001 to PAC12 teams. Easier road to 'success' with less expectations AND he got a hefty pay raise by playing his alma mater.

The more I think about it, the more it makes me want to turn my back on Brohm. I wish him nothing.

Just wish he would have come out and said I'M NOT GOING TO UL 2 weeks ago and saved all the back and forth. + it would have kept a majority of the Purdue dipsh!ts off here (there were a few that actually spoke with some intelligence). I'm confident VT will hire a great coach!

Tyra has shown class and a strong business attitude up to this point. I like the guy more and more I hear him and watch him carry himself. It will take time, but in the long run I think as a fan base we all grow to love him and has our best interest at heart.
Just an opinion. Go cards.

I like Tyra... I'm not buying that good candidates reached out to him after the Brohm story broke. The ones that would reach out to him are the desperate, washed up or those looking to get a new deal at their current spot. Good candidates are pursued

All of this could have easily been avoided. Brohm could have been a stand up guy and put the brakes on it before it even started. Tyra could have read the signs and not offered. Instead, he read the signs and still offered. Savvy.

With the exception of being tied to the BOT, as they hired him, I haven't seen a reason not to be all in with VT. He is transparent and has hired/extended contracts on some key coaches to the program. All signs lead to having one of the best AD's in America.......again!

Get up and brush yourselves off boys.....Vince will make a good hire. The more I hear and read the more Brohm was playing Louisville to get a raise.....I am GLAD we are not the ones that ended up having to pay a .500 coach 6 million dollars.

I have complete faith in Vince....I read a quote and not sure if true from Vince...it was something like " I want to get us into a place that when we play Purdue we murder them on the field" if he really said that then I may get an erection.

I disagree and think this program needs a coaching staff that wants to be here and has something to prove.

In a perfect world, I would agree. In the current state of program toxicity, it's likely that the folks reaching out are as I mentioned: on their way out of their current gig, washed up or looking to get a raise at their current place.

UL isn't a destination gig like we would all like to imagine.

But aren't there truly only about 5 "destination" jobs that exist? There are 65 or so power 5 schools and several other really good jobs in the group of 5 programs and we are talking about 5 jobs. I get sick of hearing that. If we are successful and lose whomever to Alabama or ND, then so be it--probably means we were ROLLING. The biggest change from now to when we are CUSA or AAC is we are in a power 5 conference. Yes, Miami, Texas AM, etc., are better programs, but the gap as it pertains to financial backing, facilities, etc., is nowhere near what it was 10 years ago.

There are zero destination jobs. Only jobs that guys stay in because they don’t have a better opportunity.

Lol you dopes believe this dopey AD. Have you heard him speak? He doesn't know what he's doing.

Yep. And then Bobby promptly went 3-1 vs lumpy and had better teams every year minus this one.
These slapd^cks would kill for our last 5 years....even if they had to have this awful year that we have had. They would trade a Heisman, playoff contention, multiple top 25's for these awful previous seasons under Poops.....you know you would. And if you had our exact same scenario..you would have these successful years along with this one bad one, and would be firing Petrino and hiring Brown....

oh wait Barnfart is your AD.....You wouldnt be firing anyone.

I concur Cue Card. Time to move on and fix our broken football program. And I wish Brohm no ill, but he should never be allowed to ever coach at Louisville again!

This is such a childish response. You realize that Brohm was screwed by Uofl TWICE. He sacrificed and came to UofL as an OC...got fired which set his career back several years. Then he was overlooked for Bobby 2.0.

Be disappointed that he didn't come back but be an adult. Brohm owed you nothing...if anything, it is the other way around. UofL screwed his twice...I don't even consider what he did spurning anyone in the same way he was spurned...he is following up on his comittment. Timing was bad.

So with that thought pattern, it would be easy to conclude Brohm did what he did out of spite then. Since he didn't put an end to the speculation and since he milked it for weeks in order to get more money out of Purdue, he also used this situation to get back at the program who wronged him twice. Is that what you're saying?

Sure sounds like it.

Nope...saying that despite his consistent message that he was happy, he agreed to meet with Tyra to hear him out (this is what adults do). He turned around and gave the university an answer the next day. He owed nothing to anybody. He was already going to get a raise from Purdue anyway and so it is mere speculation to say he "used" UofL.

In the end...even that is a stupid argument because there is nothing wrong with that. If Tyra was content with the timeframe (one he constructed mind you), why is anyone else upset? Isn't Tyra the one running this thing? I missed the note that said Brohm was running the search for a new coach.

So when was the right time ?
When Louisville was 11-1 ?

Since you guys spew the loyalty crap, he can NEVER leave since he is so loyal.

While i didnt want Petrino in 2014, Brohm had no HC experience then. Yes, neither did Petrino in 2003, however he knew he was Coach in waiting here.

Since he felt he was screwed, he made the right decision. He'll never coach here.

The loyalty is to finish the rebuild. Not hard to comprehend, really unless you are simply obtuse. Nobody is saying he has to stay forever. The only one saying he needed to anything are the UofL fans that feel spurned. To you he HAD to come home...somehow you have that right. Not sure where it came from?

He didnt meet out of curiosity, he met because he had accepted the job through his agent a few days after Petrino was fired.

If he never had any intentions if coming here, he could hav said so weeks ago. He wanted but got cold feet at the last minute.

He is also banking on coming to UofL later.
That will never happen.

Finish the rebuild LoL.
So he's a monetary mercenary ?
Doesnt he want to be at a school 10 yrs like Saban, Dabo etc.....

Rebuild then leave. Got it.
THEN he'll ll want the Louisville job.
Got it.
Except that will never happen.
He burnt his bridge with UofL.

Seemingly you already burned your bridge with him. I'd say he will be successful regardless.

Nobody said he wasnt going to be.
Hope he wins all he can.

Just sayin after the "rebuild" is complete and he has the itch to come home, it aint happening.
Might as well retire at Purdue, because he aint retiring from UofL.....

Again, the circumstances are different. If he were just some other coach and he did this, understood. You are fully aware why this is different.

Tyra knows who reached out and we don't. I'll go with the source who knows rather than the one who's speculating.

Just wish he would have come out and said I'M NOT GOING TO UL 2 weeks ago and saved all the back and forth.

JB got a $2MM raise out of this (a 50% raise on his ~$3.9MM). He met with Tyra, said no, it is what it is.

I'm not going to re-write history - I wanted Brohm just like most. And had he been hired at $6MM, I would have been excited about it (just like most). But let's face it - that kind of salary puts him in the same salary strata as Dabo Sweeney, etc. He hasn't earned a $6MM salary yet, in my opinion. JB's $6MM salary is more of a down-payment for speculation on future accomplishments than what he's accomplished thus far. Step back a minute - Dabo Sweeney money for a ~0.500 coach from Purdue is just crazy money TODAY. It may pay off and then some, he may go out and earn all over it in the coming years, but wow, $6MM.

If JB turns out to produce Dabo Sweeney-type results, then good for Purdue. Otherwise - and forget a moment that's it's "Jeff Brohm" we're talking about - Louisville may be better off with who they ultimately hire.

According to the same sources that said it was a done deal he was coming to UofL.

Wait for the facts.

Funny though...how would you feel if he spurned UofL for less money...we would have total breakdowns on here about how Brohm clearly hates the city and doesn't care about the program. Would rather stay at a "doormat" for less money.

There is no way to satisfy crazy.
