Tom Crean Out As IU Coach

Indiana and Tom Crean have parted ways after nine seasons, the school announced on Thursday.

The Hoosiers went to the Sweet 16 three times in his tenure but have not made it to the NCAA tournament twice in the past four seasons -- including this past year despite beating Kansas and North Carolina early in the season.

Had he not beaten Kentucky he would have been fired much sooner. This is a sad day for all people who hate Indiana basketball. Hopefully Indiana doesn't realize their self worth and they hire another mediocre coach. Too much talent in the state of Indiana to be crap forever.

Yep. Alford has to be THE coach for Bloomington. I don't see how IU could possibly want anyone else.

Yep. Alford has to be THE coach for Bloomington. I don't see how IU could possibly want anyone else.

IMO Alford does not have a good enough record of success to earn a job as good as IU. If they were smart they'd go after Gregg Marshall.

I like Marshall a lot. Kind of hoping he's available when coach Pitino decides to retire.

Just don't see what Richard P or Alford have done to prove that they deserve that job. I don't think you fire a multiple time Big 10 champ to get unproven coaches. Richard might get there but heck he was damn near fired at Minnesota last year. And Alford's tenure at Iowa was very average.

Literally the only reason he was there for so long is because he beat us. The whole state of Indiana blew their wad
