Time to Self-Impose a Tourney Ban

For those who are saying the post season ban didn’t work, what did you expect the NCAA to do? Say “Oh you decided to punish yourselves, so we won’t take away your banner even though you had players that received impermissable benefits play the entire season?”...
That's EXACTLY what some people believed, incl. highly placed people in U of L at the time. Why else self impose? We had a team with Lee & Lewis that could have challenged in the post season. We thought by self imposing, it would curry favor with the NCAA and that the harshest penalty would be in the rear view mirror.

I advocated--evidently knuckles did too--that we NOT self impose. First, I wasn't nor am I still convinced that the punishment fit the crime. Nor did I trust the NCAA. No chance I would have self imposed without a firm deal with the NCAA. We got little or nothing out of it...

Our compliance office must be the worst in the country. That rule has been brought up so many times they should have known nothing we could do would prevent vacating the wins. Unless the NCAA told U of L that self imposing could save the banner, then there really would be little point in self imposing and you and Knuckle are in the right. However, it didn’t work out well for us. Hopefully the current administration just does whatever it takes to get the smallest penalty possible.

I think trying to get a deal with the NCAA would be a reasonable step. It would be mutually beneficial since the NCAA won’t have the time or resources to fully investigate all programs in this FBI probe.

If you dont think firing our HC, firing our AD, and the kid NEVER playing a game for UofL and UofL telling him to take a hike, then we'll never agree. I'm not worried about the FBI situation because I know it isn't going to effect us as much as some think it will. It'd be different if the kid played a year, we kept our coach, we kept the assistants, kept the AD, and basically told the NCAA to eat dirt. Again, the NCAA will have to complete their OWN investigation. IF they cant use what the FBI has found, how do you think they're going to get their info? They gonna reverse time and set up their own hidden cameras? Haha.

Of course firing Pitino and not playing Bowen matters. BUT it doesn’t change the fact that we are on probation.

I’m not saying your wrong but where are you reading that the NCAA wouldn’t have access to components of the FBI investigation?
