We are hours away from the dead period coming to the end and the full contact period beginning. Here are some little bits of info surrounding Louisville recruiting as the phone lines get ready to light up with coaches calling kids at midnight.
- I followed up with someone, just for fun, about the Tate Martell situation. Needless to say I was told there was "zero chance" he would come to Louisville. No surprise there.
- 4-star DE and FSU commit Quashon Fuller announced on Twitter that he was visiting Louisville this weekend after cancelling a visit to Florida. I checked with someone on the FSU side of things and was told that the belief is that "As long as FSU wants him...he will likely end up there." They did go on to say that there was some uncertainty on whether FSU will continue to push (recruit) him so that is at least something to watch.
- Brandon Jordan, a 6'6" 230lbs TE prospect, has been a target of Louisville for a little while now. I recently followed up with Jordan who stated that Louisville was "definitely" the frontrunner to sign with in February, but that he was going to see what the next few weeks have in store as far as if any other schools pursue him.
- NJ TE prospect Tyler Devera has been in contact with Louisville and is expecting a phone call from Louisville TE coach Stu Holt after midnight. As of now he doesn't have a visit to Louisville planned and no official offer but definitely one to watch.
- Speaking of TE prospects, one name just to remember for later on is Chris Hopkins. Hopkins stated that several of Louisville's coaches have followed him and invited him to camps this spring/summer as he said the staff wanted to get a closer look at him. He is a member of the class of 2019 so I'm not sure if he would be a late addition to the class or walk-on but regardless there is at least some interest with the coaches contacting him.
- Georgia 3-star LB Allen Smith told me that he has an official visit scheduled to Louisville next weekend. From what I have been told, Smith is one to keep an eye on, although he doesn't claim any favorites at this time.
- I know there was some mention of Louisville being involved with the recruitment of OL Dawand Jones but I reached out to Jones who stated Louisville had not been in contact with him.
- Steven Linton was a DE that Petrino's staff was very high on and he told me that Louisville's new staff has stayed in contact with him so he is another prospect to watch.
- Another LB target that I'm told Louisville is in pretty good shape with is Drew Fowler of Bellevue, WA. Fowler just recently earned an offer from Louisville's new staff and said that he is going to set up a visit to Louisville soon.
