First off, sorry about the game last night. I had a bad feeling about the Cards chances when a multitude of their players were tweeting complaining about the rankings Tuesday night. One player said and I'll quote him,"Clemson and Michigan stay in the Top 4 after losing to unranked teams. That's crazy." One, that doesn't make any sense. Michigan I can understand but the thing is Michigan and Ohio State still had to play each other so no matter what one of those two teams would have been hung another loss. The Clemson quote doesn't make any sense. Louisville and Clemson both had a loss and Clemson has the head to head. Clemson also had 3 wins over ranked teams in Louisville, FSU and Auburn.

There is something to be said for setting worrying about the rankings aside and just focusing on winning your games. In fact, I posted something to that affect after the rankings came out on Tuesday. Sitting there at #5, Louisville had all their goals in front of them. Why worry that you aren't in the Top 4 three weeks before it even counts.

I chalk all this up to inexperience in dealing with being in contention for the Playoffs. I think next year if the Cards are back in this position again they'll learn from this experience that the only thing that matters is winning your games and you don't worry about rankings until the Regular Season is over.

No excuses. Houston kicked the ever living crap out of the Cardinals last night and yes a lot of it had to do with attitude. I 100% agree with you about that. The kids were focused on the headlines instead of focusing on the task in front of them which was playing a hungry Houston Cougar team. We earned this loss. It was a total team effort.

They deserved to lose.. this is the most undisciplined team I have ever seen by a Petrino coached team.

I wouldn't go that far. He's had plenty of undisciplined teams over the years. Hard to choose just one.

Our team knows firsthand how good Houston can be. Hard to believe they lost to SMU. But when they're on then they're a tough team to beat.

After wearing out my scalp about x's and o's for this one,I've decided that I'm only really surprised about our team's inability or unwillingness to match the intensity that they were smacked up side the head with,to overcome the obstacle of the early fumble, and to not adjust to both aforementioned things to resolve and get the W. Overcome and persevere were not on display.

Now,I'd gladly have given the 15 minute speech before the game to address any thoughts about complacency, but I wasn't asked;)
