While Louisville caught the last train out of town with its entrance into the ACC, all of the conference and rivalry destruction to chase that share of passive cable subscriber fees, it appears that in a few years it will be all for not. The marketability of a program like Maryland was completely pegged to the size of their market and the number of people passively forced to pay for the Big10 Network. The Louisville market has always ranked up there with the highest actual viewership vs. cable/dish subscriber market. As the passive-charging cable model continues to collapse in favor of a pay for content model, this should strengthen the power and marketability of the program when it comes to revenue generation.
