The school also argued the violations are out of the norm for the program, but again, the NCAA said,

All that means is there is no reason to debate things that are inherently quantifiable....they are what they are.

That's not my take. I think they are saying we have a background of where sex may be involved, whether it's the coach or a player being charged for rape, all within the last few years.
Ricks personal transgression had nothing to do with the NCAA or school and the false accusation against Chris the same .

This is such a bad look for the University of Louisville. It's not really being discussed nationally much right now for good reason, but I'm so tired of hearing, talking and trying to defend it.

If this were any other school (especially UK), we would be clowning the coach and university.

I will be glad when this thing is behind us and the black cloud that has surrounded Louisville basketball for the last year or so has passed.

The process is exhausting. I'm not sure what to really think anymore.

Signed,
Frustrated and disappointed fan.

You need to bone up. Being a "fan" is not all the gravy stuff. If you want in, you have to handle adversity like Jurich and all the coaches say.

As most know, I've never supported the path our former Prez chose for us. EASY is not always the best way. I want to take the best course even if it takes time and effort, and even if it "frustrates and disappoints" some of our fans...

No. You made a post saying that we have a history of violations. I responded to your post. Go read it yourself unless you don't remember what you post sometimes, Fist.
Thats qouted from the report. if you go read it you will see the exact wording

Yeah, but what is the best course? Is it what's best for the program and the institution or the coach.
Should all involved accept the findings and the punishment or dig in and fight?

First off, I don't need anyone telling me to bone up and handle adversity that doesn't know anything about me. If I want in, hell I've been in and will stay in.

I'm a proud graduate of the university and am the cousin of a well known player that played under coach Crum. Doesn't mean a real hill of beans, but you cannot come at me with that "real fans should feel this way" stuff. You cannot tell me how to be a fan. Laughable.

I can feel and state my opinions the same as you do yours even if they don't line up with your thinking. Doesn't make me any less of fan. Doesn't mean I want to take the easy way out.

If the tables were reversed and this was another university, a lot of fans would see this case differently.

It's a bad look and story for the university and there is no way to get around that.

I think you misunderstood zipp's main point. That point is you have to accept the bad along with the good to be a true fan of whatever program you support. We've had our fair share of both bad AND good.

Totally understood his point. I've been through good and bad. No one can tell me how to think or how to feel or how to be "real fan." I have and will always support the university and don't need anyone telling me how a "real supporter" should feel.

Doesn't mean I cannot be frustrated with the process or how it looks to the university. Please don't misunderstand my point and assume thing.

To clarify, for me good and bad is up and down seasons. I would classify this as ugly and I'm still a "real fan."

"Yes" is the answer to all of those questions. You have to balance all of those priorities and choose the correct path.

IMO we chose the most expedient path that would be best in the long run. And that is what we THOUGHT. We probably took the word of the NCAA and Smrt. We probably understood that a postseason ban would take care of everything. We underestimated what they wanted to do about Pitino. And we knew that would be important to Pitino.

Any of those things that turns out to be a mistake or an error in judgment, and we didn't get what we THOUGHT we were bargaining for. And we've already taken the ban, so we may never get what we bargained for. Why should the NCAA bargain now?

We probably failed "Negotiating 101" by giving up something with nothing guaranteed to return. Esp. dealing with someone of questionable integrity (NCAA). Lessons learned...

I never said anything about "real fan." Those are your words. Your problem is you're a whiner, and you're not alone. We have plenty of fans who are whiners.

Whiners don't deal with adversity well. It goes something like "why are we here?" "Who can we blame?" "When will it be over?"

There may not be any easy answers to those questions, but for damn sure, whining doesn't help. You bone up, real fan or not...

You know what. I just had an epiphany tonight with your help of course.

I need to bone up, stop whining and learn how to deal with adversity.

Got it. I'll get to work on those things. Thanks

Apparently some schools are permitted to push back (UNC)when threatened with the specter of sanctions, others are not. The NCAA is wishing to play hard ball with the University of Louisville for the (admittedly) ugly actions of a few. Meanwhile UNC has graduated both athletes and non- athletes with degrees that include classes where no work was required. While sex sells and is scandalous I cannot believe we don't hear more about phony classes and degrees!!

To a large extent this has rotted institutionally from the head down. The Karen Sypher mess and embarrassment was a bad example to the student athletes and left the idea that anything goes. The whole mess with the former university president and those financial shenanigans cast doubt on the university leadership and the integrity of the athletic and academic leadership. A complete house cleaning is in order.
