I know the Ncaa will go another direction handling our situation. However after seeing this documentary . If the Ncaa is going to be using stuff from this or related too it . I'm very much now 50/50 on U of L's chances of not being hammered than i was prior to seeing this. The main thing i want to know why was this FBI agent pushing to get Rick? He was not even the high level coach getting the elite players whatsoever. Now granted he moves the needle from an image standpoint i get that ! But hell coach K , Calipari and Self ,and Miller get all the best players and their names are just as big.

Boring and nothing new. It was really all about Dawkins himself and not college basketball as a whole. I know everyone is waiting for the “other shoe” and “tip of the iceberg” type moments, but it’s not gonna do that folks.

Some cheap shots at our program were on there. The Miller and Wade recordings are the only newsworthy items, the actual recordings were shocking if you haven’t been paying attention.

I was wondering why this FBI agent was so eager to get Pitino also. I would like to know the background of the agent maybe that would shed some light on the situation.

Unless I missed it, it was never said that Dawkins was involved with recruits playing for a bigger name than Pitino. That's a big reason why I think he was in the FBI crosshairs.

And it was more evidence that made U of L look better than the punishment we took and self inflicted...

As explained in The Scheme, the FBI started their investigation with the intent to take down high profile college coaches and schools that were paying for players.

Pitino only became a specific target after the FBI agent, posing as a wealthy businessman who bankrolled Dawkins’ company, paid Brian Bowen Sr to secure his son’s signing with Louisville.

It was basically at that point that the FBI had enough on Dawkins that they decided to reveal themselves to him and see if they could use him to get evidence of cheating on Pitino, Will Wade, Bill Self, or Sean Miller, among others. And at that point Pitino became a particular focus due to FBI knowledge of the payment to Bowen Sr.

It had to be a huge gut punch to adidas when Dawkins stated in the documentary that if adidas would have paid Bowen Sr. on time then the fbi would never have known about the payment to Bowen. Per Dawkins, it was only due to adidas’ stalling on the payment that Dawkins had to use fbi money to pay Bowen. Thanks a lot adidas.

And if what Dawkins says is correct about the on time payment being made. Things here would be totally different. Tom and Rick would more than likely still be here. Along with most of the crooked admin. personally i'm glad it all came to light because of all the illegal crap that was happening behind closed doors at U of L.. Nothing better than a clean slate and house. Can you imagine if the Bowen situation cleared Rick would have gotten into this payola with the shoe company more and more.

You know more than HBO, the NCAA, the federal government, and local authorities with jurisdiction. THAT's what you'd have everyone believe...

Happened on their watch with their hired hands. Water under the bridge and as Rick stated looking back he needed to be fired for lack of over site.

Rick Pitino: 'I deserved to be fired by Louisville' New Iona coach Rick Pitino said Monday he "deserved to be fired by Louisville" three years ago after the FBI opened an investigation into fraud and corruption in college basketball.Mar 16, 2020

You're reading what you wanna read. Pitino didn't admit to anything in that statement except maybe stupidity.

Find "stupidity" in his U of L employment contract...

It could be that Pitino is just acknowledging that he deserved to be fired from UofL because of EVERYTHING that happened while he was at UofL, ie Sypher, Powell, and Bowen scandals as a whole. I’m not saying he didn’t deserve to be fired for everything that happened while he was here, I’m speaking specifically to the fbi probe.

It was very clear from the documentary that most coaches are left out of behind the scene deals with the shoe co’s, agents, handlers etc. It’s also clear from the documentary/fbi recordings that there are some high profile coaches that do know about what goes on, eg Wade, Miller, Self, etc, but it’s a reach to say Pitino knew about the paying of players. Pitino definitely had his errors in judgment when it came to his personal life decisions, that doesn’t prove he was a dirty coach.

Do we not forget some key info that Rick dropped at the beginning of this fbi scandal. He put his foot in his mouth twice admitting that some other teams were paying for players. And that little tidbit about Bowen "we didn't even have too spend a dime!" I never said he knew as none of us know the actual truth wit that. I'm of the premise you don't have too know because you do not want to know! Blind eye syndrome. And as far the Syher crap i never hold that against him because i feel that's personal. Last straw was this Bowen crap .

And too beleive Rick never knew about the shoe game is just being ignorant. I can take certain things back to his days at UK . One question do you know what kind of car Derrick Anderson was driving once he transfered to Uk instead of U of L ? A blue brand new Benz. During those times U of L and Samaki got hammered for a used explorer. Thanks Pat Forde

I'm done with it we have a new coach i'm happy with and Rick's at Iona .

The Sypher deal was definitely personal, and for all we know maybe he and his wife had an open marriage, still that scandal was plastered on front cover of SI and covered ad nauseum by ESPN, which definitely made UofL look bad. Again, maybe Pitino feels he should have been fired due to all the scandals as a whole.

And too beleive Rick never knew about the shoe game is just being ignorant.

Ignorance is lack of knowledge, knowledge of which neither you nor I have of what Pitino actually knew about his players being paid, anything outside of that is just an assumption. I’m willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt as far as that topic goes, especially when Rick called out the shoe companies for having too much involvement in the college game. It would have been a very bad move on his part to call out the very hand that was feeding him, unless of course he thought his program was clean.

Either way, he’s gone, this topic is old, Go Cards Go Krogering.

Pitino knowing (or not) what went on elsewhere had no standing with his employment at U of L. He was under contract and paid based on his personal performance here.

My guess is that Pitino believed that as long as payments came from third parties and that the schools were not complicit in those activities, the NCAA was turning a blind eye. And he mistakenly trusted his assistants to understand those differences...
