This is something I foresaw at least a month ago and it seems to be happening now.

I brought up the possibility that Jurich and Petrino could become a package deal for someone because Petrinos buy out was cut in half when Jurich was fired. I also specifically said Tennessee was a prime candidate.

UT fired their athletic director today. They make a run on Jurich and Jurich accepts and takes Petrino with him.

Welcome home Jeff Brohm.

The odds of this happening are slim. No one wants to go to Tennessee right now. I would say they screwed themselves out of anyone good with all of the public rejections. I would say the pieces are falling into place for Louisville to take over as a top 15 program:D. Ole miss got crucified, FSU may be losing their coach, Tennessee is a dumpster fire. Let’s take advantage of the power vacuum. Saban may retire soon and Dabo may take over Alabama.

I agree there is a package deal in the works however it appears to be Phat Phil at AD and his former QB Tee Martin at coach. I still think that there is the possibility (slim at best) that if Malzhan goes to Arky, that auburn will take Jurich, Petrino and pitino. No where do optics mean less when it comes to winning than at that place.

Unless they give Jurich full control it ain’t happening at UT. And since their not structured that way I highly doubt that occurs. Auburn that’s more interesting because they would allow Jurich full control. But he’s walking into a school that’s second fiddle, however it’s not close to the same as this backward state.

I think the bond between Jurich and Pitino is gone. I know that TJ was loyal to a fault protecting and standing up for him but with these latest allegations against Pitino that he knew, Tom has to feel that Rick betrayed his trust. I personally wouldn’t want to deal with another Pitino issue, especially if it cost him his Louisville job that he cared so much about.

I doubt very seriously Pitino ever coaches another game.
I do not think Jurich would try to take Petrino to Arkansas, but I could see Jurich getting Walton money to get that show going again.
I COULD see Jurich interviewing at Washington State, and should Leave leave for UT, then, maybe Petrino to the West Coast.
I cannot see Brohm leaving Purdue this year now.

Jurich to the west coast I see; taking Petrino not happening unless Grissom pushes him out.

Turmoil isn't over. Phil Fulmer will find a coach for UT....fair or foul.
FSU has no coach this evening....and that is another BIG TIME program that wants a bounce back. Arkansas has as much money to throw as anyone.
I dontvthink Frost has taken the Nebraska job.
This may not be over until February just before signing day.

I think Jurich stays here and forms a consulting company. I think Petrino stays here because he likes it here and his whole family is here. Not a bad gig. Gets paid a ton, employs his son and son-in—law, as well as his daughter who runs the family foundation.

For normal folks I would say hands down.
Football coaches are a different crew. Always wanting that next challenge to tackle.

You don't get it .

The SECOND Petrino leaves, Brohm is coming home.
Doesn't matter after 1 yr or whether he is at Purdue, Tennessee or even Bama.

He WILL be the next coach at UofL.

Maybe. Power of positive thinking never hurts.
I never thought Tom Jurich would take Bobby Petrino back.
AND I thought Charlie Strong would retire at UofL.
Let it roll.

Knucklehank1 nailed it, although the BoT and Chairman will always be ready to pull that trigger on CBP.
Also we may be in for some slimmer Athletic budgets.
And, FB may have to pay for more expenses previously paid out of University budget. Changes are coming.

I think the biggest monetary concern now is the effect the tax bill will have on UofL athletics. Making seat license fees no longer tax deductible is going to have a huge impact on UofL. If you are an ardent UofL fan, you might want to contact your Congressional leader on this.

No, the biggest monetary concern is paying millions in settlement to TJ and Pitino, at the same time as Grissom and Pastel raiding the athletic fund.

I agree with CFBM and Knuckle. We have lots of financial issues staring us in the face.
Not the least to mention is Game attendance....If you were at the game last night, you would think many had already dropped their tickets. The crowd was the smallest I may have ever seen in my 43 years of being a season ticket holder.
As far as football, if/when Petrino leaves, I do believe Brohm will come home. Unfortunately, the people we wish would leave our university are still hanging around. I’m pretty sure they will be getting lumps of coal from Cardinal Fans for Christmas!

I have to wonder why people think Brohm would be so guick to "come home" to this mess?

Granted, they may not be here then, but they very well may be. Postel may not get the gig, and neither may VT, but the BoT will be here and they will do the hiring.

If they do neuter the Athletic Dept as it seems is their desire, WHY would JB "come home"?

I guess there is the possibility, that they clean house, then it becomes THEIR Athletic Dept, and THEY can claim all glory for it.

So they would go all out to rebuild it? Maybe?

Still Wishin' and Hopin'. The new UL theme song.

Gotta chuckle. UT fans screaming their problems we're caused by outsiders being in charge. They torpedo their AD to put in bleed orange Fulmer....who hires an Alabama man. LOLOLOLOL!

So the mighty Vols had to dip into the coordinator pool to get their coach.

A first time HC at TENNESSEE !

I thought they said that only happened at places like....Louisville. ;)

Jeff Brohm would take the UofL job faster than you can say West Lafayette. I'm certain of that. In fact there were some hurt feelings in the Brohm camp on how TJ allowed Krags using JB as scapegoat.

Maybe.

But that was then, and this is now. Nobody has a clue yet as to what the working environment will be around here.

But as I said, by the time we're in the market for Brohm, hopefully (there's that word again) things will be settled and we will remain an attractive job.

If JB were to jump into this pool of "interims", I'd question how smart he really is outside of football.
