Syd Curry After The Game

Syd just survived assault and battery on two dunk attempts. I do not know why a hockey game broke out under the Cards rim with the ball in his hands but it did.

It is pretty clear Syd has enormous heart and is a prideful young man. I am REALLY hoping he returns next season for whoever is coaching this team.

If he does not return I am going to be rooting for him wherever he ends up.

They were both basketball plays. Love Curry and the fact he didn't back down one bit. Needs to be one of the 4 or 5 players back next year no matter the coach.

Those 2 plays were huge; regrettably the TV failed to provide adequate replay to determine if indeed it was clean or a foul. Some of you are convinced there was excessive contact, and if so, it is a tragedy for both Sydney and UL, as either would have affected the outcome.

I will agree about the less than generous officiating that UL receives in the YUM.

On the play where he was going up to dunk two handed, the Duke player hit the ball first but then hacked the hell out of his wrist. The video board at the Yum showed it very clearly.

The first one Duke's Mark Williams did block the dunk attempt, but it was the secondary defender who also tried to block Curry and slammed him to the ground. Curry went down hard and looked injured for a bit. They showed a replay and it was clear but the announcers didn't say a thing.

The second one there was no replay but I rewound the dvdr and it was tough to see for sure but teams have been very good at blocking dunk attempts against Louisville these days.

We had a good crowd but we just don't get the home cooking like other big programs.

Question for a referee. If a players shot has already deemed blocked by another player and then there is contact with a secondary player, is it no longer a foul because he’s no longer considered an offensive player?

As long as the ball is in play and the action is live contact would still be a foul.
There is contact all the time without the ball. Can’t call all those as fouls. To be clear, I’m saying the referee determined the ball was already blocked and the contact came after. Not saying right or wrong.
