Sutton...

When shots are fallin, everything looks peachy. When they're not,you get exposed in your weaknesses. That's when you have to defend the rim with vigor, quit the phantom shot block attempts, rebound like it's the last play of the game, protect hte ball like it's the last possession and make the extra pass for a better shot because you understand that's how the game is played.

Our guys are not doing these things when other things are not peachy.

The problem is that wasn't the story a month ago...
No, it wasn't. IMO It was CCM's way of getting them back to the way they played earlier in the season. Based on the way they competed today, I think we can put to bed the idea he has lost the team. Now, to get the three point shooting and Sutton back on line.

Agreed. If we want to get a better picture of a coach that lost a team, we need to go to the football board and talk about last year's football team.

LoL.

Good point but youll never get a discussion with Zipp on that.

He still thinks he should have been retained or bought out at a low rate.

Everyone gave up on Petrino last year, not just the players.

As far as dealing with Petrino...if you're ready to eat $12 million to fire Mack, I'll give you the same narrative. Nothing inconsistent in my analysis. "Vince" doesn't have $12 million or $14 million without robbing a bank...

What we had today was one data point.

UofL has one game they lost by over 15 points this year. That's one data point out of 30.

UofL has had the lead in 6 of the last 8 games at halftime with some high end quality opponents in that data set. They came back to win of the two they were trailing at the half.

If a coach has "lost the team" those things wouldn't have happened, the team lays down from the opening tip and/or gets blown out repeatedly.

There's no margin-of-victory element to the debate, and it's odd how these things manifest themselves.

This also isn't my narrative. Plenty are asking where our coaching is in important game situations. If it's there, it should be there throughout the game, not just at the "opening tip".

Do I lay all of this team's issues at Mack's feet? No. But that's where I place a good part of it unless/until I find out that this team has a roster with too many headcases. So far, Mack's done a good job this year on balance. That's a "B" on a report card where an "A" is possible...

You no habla what "lost the team" means. No big deal. Carry on.
Don't know that it's more than an eye test at this point. You could also query others in the fanbase saying it.

And it's not a great opposing position to take with the coach calling his guys eff-ing P's on the sideline...

I like to feed him now and then we keep it lite lol
IIRC one or two people were saying that setting goals for this year was jumping the gun. Those people weren't me.

As I said, Mack's had a good year so far, and I even acknowledged he was trending toward "great" at one point. There are reasons why we didn't stay on that trend even if no one can say with certainty what they are.

He's still got a shot at that result the next few weeks...
