Do the top eight seeds host the SRs? or Does the highest ranked winner of the two regionals host the SRs? or What?

Whatever the answer is, our chances got a little better with this weeks ratings that just came out - it was a pleasant surprise - you'd think we would've dropped a tad in light of losing to Temple.

We stayed the same with NCBW (5) and Baseball America (10)

Yes ... the top 8 seeds would host the super regionals should they win at the regional level.

If a top 8 seed team should lose, then a new host site is determined by the committee. I know when we first hosted a super regional, TJ had to pull some strings to get it, because by all rights (ranking, tradition, etc.), it shoulda gone to Oklahoma State. But ... it didn't got there. We got it, Oklahoma State came here, and we lost a close one, beat the ever lovin snot outta them in one, won the rubber match to get to Omaha.

I believe that first Super we hosted was because the NCAA was and still is trying to spread the interest in college baseball up north. They let UCONN host a couple years ago as a lower seed. No doubt OSU should have hosted UL that year in the Super. Miami was the National seed in UL's bracket that year and UL upset them so they gave it to UL. I don't think it would have matter. That UL team was on a tear and I don't think they would have been denied a trip to Omaha that year.

You are definitely right in that the pitch TJ used to land the super was exposing a new market to the sport.

But I think it was Missouri who was the national seed that year. They hosted the regional. And Miami was ranked, and the 2 seed there, and was in the middle of an amazingly long streak of getting to the super regional level (something like 20 some odd years in a row).

Curiosity got the better of me, so I googled ... and found this on Wickipedia ... see link ...

Arkansas was actually the national seed, and Oklahoma State beat them at the regional level.

We had to beat Miami twice, after losing to Mizzou, and then had to beat Mizzou twice to advance.

Anyway ... go to the link for full details on the 2007 tourney.

I knew we beat Miami but wasn't sure on the rest. That Super was GREAT! Would love to host another soon and believe that will happen. Maybe this year if the stars align.

Thanks for the input, guys! One of the stars comes out at 6:00 tonight. I hope it is aligned.
