Subpoenas Have been issued

A lot of jumping the gun in this thread. (I can understand it from the LPT fans...)

The burden of proof for a criminal offense is guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. I've seen and heard very little "evidence' in this mess that's that conclusive. I think this Grand Jury thing is mostly grandstanding because there's so much publicity and allegedly minors involved.

To call what this ho was doing "prostitution" may well be giving it/her the benefit of the doubt. She sure as hell wasn't claiming to make much money at it. And to add the term "ring" indicating the coordinated activity of different people to commit a crime could just be more exaggeration. Until I see good evidence that the ho and her girls were making serious money, this is still a bunch of groupies as far as I'm concerned, each of them aspiring to be a baby mama alongside an NBA star.

The Grand Jury PROCESS--not the end result--is the really interesting part because people can't refuse to talk, and everyone's under oath. Still doesn't mean people won't lie esp. when they know there's no way to prove they're lying. Perjury's difficult to successfully prosecute.

I'd pump the brakes about what some of you are fearing or hoping for.

"Elite program", my a$$...
I think that requires me to ask if there is a dollar limit before prostitution actually occurs under the law.

I'm surprised that a Kentucky grand jury can subpoena a resident (corporation) of Indiana. OK they can issue the subpoena but suspect an Indiana corp/resident can just ignore it.
A Kentucky resident can ignore a grand jury subpoena. But, basically that means your telling the commonwealth attorney "see you in court or not" depending on what the grand jury decides based on the information and testimony of others to proceed without you.

What if the entire grand jury is made up of Kentucky wildcat Fans.

I think something else that triggered the grand jury subpoena.

I am of the opinion that UofL's investigation yielded something and they took it to the CA. The reason I say this is because several attorneys spoke on the various radio stations covering this about what it would take to get the CA involved based on the book. They all said it would be slim at best.

With the story ever changing with each interview, I have a feeling the whole prostitution thing was made up by a certain writer. A writer whose price was met by a certain publisher. A certain publisher who apparently does not like a certain coach and apparently the university that they coach at.

Are the journals real? What about the ledger? What about the money receipt? All of it suspicious given the inconsistencies to answers given in the interviews.

Is KP a hooker? Probably so. However, I am beginning to think that the most she and everyone else did was dance in a bikini/lingerie at Minardi. That story has somewhat been confirmed. A violation, illegal, and/or scandal? No, not really from what others have said either. Maybe a little questionable, but nothing else.

The story has been embellished. But why?

I have a theory for the inclusion of KP's daughters. It had nothing to do with prostitution. It was more along the lines of becoming a future NBA baby mama. That story and/or the dancing would not have a impact on UofL like a prostitution story. You can make a buck and inflict some serious damage with that story. To what degree they have succeeded, that has yet to be determined.

KP made an odd comment on Rover in her interview in regards to turning over her journals. It was along the lines of they interpreted them. Strange comment for someone to make given it was her story and she would be the only one who could release it.

By subpoenaing the business, you would have access to a lot of information that would cast a wide enough net to catch what your fishing for. We don't know what they are looking for, only speculating on the obvious.

A business would have a difficult time refusing the subpoena versus an individual. If a business did refuse to comply, it would raise all kinds of red flags. It could also negatively impact current business and the ability to conduct business.

Who knows, I could be totally off base.

However, I believe UofL has put something together.

If you ignore a grand jury subpoena you will end up with a contempt charge and a bench warrant issued for your arrest.

Saw this tweet yesterday...

so I met katina powell's nephews other ex-aunt. she said she's all about money, the girls were all under 18 & she nvr went to the NCAA! $$$$
— Military Minded (@Dasgt35Jason) October 31, 2015

Before I saw that, I was thinking before that if Powell is guilty then UofL would go down too. After seeing that tweet I think that may not necessarily be the case. The main issue is that she pimped out her daughters. I don't think they usually go after all the "johns".

If enough people, even those outside of UofL (friends, family, etc) say that she did it, then it would be easy to prove that she did. And apparently she does a lot of talking so her business is out there. If she pimped them out (or tried to) to recruits then she pimped them out elsewhere also. There's no way that UofL was her only client (if they were even a client), and the court has to look in to everything and not just what went on at UofL.

It might be harder to prove that she pimped them out at UofL because I don't think anyone will admit to having sex with an underage girls, but if people that know her (including herself in her book) said that she did it then she could go down. Even if it did happen in Minardi Hall would they even remember who the girls were and how old they were?

For the record, I do want to the truth to come out. I don't want any cover up. But I could see things playing out this way.

I am not bashing. But think about your initial intro. I fifth person tweet is your reason to believe UL may skate.
I think UL will get off very lightly or nothing. But it is no way associated with tweet from some guy who may have spoken to a relative

I am not basing it off the tweet. I don't know whether the tweet is true or not but Powell gets around and talks. I know people that know her and have heard other people say the same - that they know her, know of her, or know someone that knows. I have heard things about her too. She runs her mouth. The people around her know things about her, regardless if the guy's tweet is true or false.

I don't see the court targeting UofL and I wonder if they would even target McGee. Powell was pimping out teenagers and I would think that is what the court would want to find out. I think they would want to talk to people beyond the book company and people associated with UofL.
