Had a chance to meet Coach Satterfield and the staff last night. I came away very impressed with everyone I met. The staff is very young and energetic.
The one "theme" around all of his remarks were about having the right attitude and effort with a focus on bringing in high character recruits that excel in the classroom, community and on the field.
All hired coaching staff members are now in Louisville and they had a 7pm "coaches meeting" last night to get everyone on the same page.
Coach said that Spring Football would start very early this season; much earlier than in years past for the Cardinals.
His logic behind moving it up made a lot of sense to me. He said rather than give guys 3 weeks of weights.....then Spring Ball for a month.....and then back to weights and conditioning, he's going to have Spring Practice first.
I think he wants to set the tone early for what his expectations will be. But, moving it up also means, if there are any injuries or surgeries needed, players have an extra 6-7 weeks in advance to heal up and recover.
Coach Satterfield said that he hoped most of the spring practices would be wrapped by Spring Break (March 11-17). Lastly, he said the Spring Game this year will probably be played on a Thursday night.
