New to Sports Radio here in Louisville.

The guy Sweeney(?) who filled in for Drew Deener this morning....like nails on a chalkboard. Total mic hog.

Do you guys like this dude? He seemed to be more concerned about a national agenda than anything local.

Thoughts?

He's a passers-by. Louisville is a stepping stone for many in the tv/radio business. They are more concerned with building tape based on national topics to impress their next potential job interviewer.

He's the worst and as someone above said...the reason I don't listen to Bobby V. Actually your post is frustrating because I hadn't heard his name in awhile and didn't know he was still in town. Maybe he's on their AM station which I don't listen to. Mic hog....hilarious but perfect. Same with the afternoon guy on the AM station

You also notice that Bobby V is a lot more snarky to the callers and texters when Sweeney is with him. Sweeney does have a yapper on him that never takes a break, so much so that even the Jason Anderson show is hard to listen to now.

Sweeney yapped so much that even Pat Forde couldn't get a word in edgewise during their interview.....Poor Marcus Maybin didn't need to come into work today because all you heard was the high pitched dog howling yapper of Sweeney. 90% of the time he didn't make a lick of sense. Terrible show today.

I think some of the posters on here ought to have 1 hour call in shows on 93.9 from 6am-midnight wrapped around Howie's Show and Ramsey & Rutherford.

From Midnight-6am while everyone is sleeping you could have "The Card Law Show" sponsored by Ambien.

I think the Senore Show, sponsored by Good Weed could be a winner.

The Daily Punchout where I introduce the winner of a poll from the previous broadcast involving any sports' worst fans or individuals. My Howard Cosell voice-over of Muhammed Ali resounds loudly over the airwaves: "Down goes Calipari!! Down goes Calipri!!" just frantically echoes through the firmament..........

More controversial of course is my weekly female segment...."This Week's Worst Woman"...needless to say, this gets hugely popular.

I could use "The Magic Christian" as a template, one week omitting all "a's" from the discourse. "Tht ws mzing!", or maybe stick with Consonant of The Day.

Lots of possibilities........

Sweeney's even a little annoying for me, and I'm pretty tolerant. I tend to favor the local guys with local roots...

IMO, the best UofL sports radio show is The Zone w/Jason Anderson, and it's not even close.

Also, IMO, The Howie Show is becoming a great show to fall asleep to.

First time I've heard Sweeney, and hopefully the last. Move on to Nashville-
"The Stillman & Sweeney show".

You're nuts....Anderson talks non stop....his questions to his guests are 2 mins long.

Howie is doing great....and by the way that Igor dude is fantastic. Would like to see Maybin on with Howie too, I just can't stomach Deener

With all due respect both Deener and Anderson get on my nerves; however, with that being said, Deener is far better than the butt kissing "sports politically correctness" Afternoon Underdogs. Howie is doing an outstanding job and even though I like Jodie Demling a lot we now know that Howie should have gotten the early morning gig that Jodie ended up with. I'm still having a difficult time being critical of sports talk personalities that are pro UofL since we have put up with so much anti UofL crap over the past few years by the folks that work for Clear Channel. I do think a lot of this crap by Clear Channel started with the "purchase" of air rights by uselessakay a few years ago. This is not a shot at Tom Jurich as I think he did the right thing in those negotiations. I lean toward "being for" pro UofL folks because of this. I say more power to 93.9 and their on air personalities and keep up the good work.

That pathetic show was at Burning Man.

It will be interesting to see what WHAS 840 is doing with the former Sports Talk time slot. Mandy Connell is assuming additional duties at KHOW in Denver, and someone else will be in that time slot. I miss Lachlan and will miss Mandy. Two of the finest broadcasters locally ever. Some tall shoes to fill.

Then I'm nuts, that's fine.

I appreciate a host who asks questions, gives solid opinions, has a take that includes stats, facts and emotion.

To me, Anderson, Mark Ennis and Margues Maybin are the best "sports talk" guys in the local business. To be honest, I don't mind Deener either because he induces discussion and emotion.

I think Howie is a great person, but I'm getting to the point where I can't listen to his show. The top 5 most spicy gas station food does not interest me. And he doesn't really have an opinion or take on much at all. He just "wonders" about things. He's pretty much is just a UofL news anchor. And if you have Twitter, his show is pretty much rendered useless.

I wish Mark Ennis or Mike Lindsey would join the show as a co-host. I think the Howie Show is in desperate need of a co-host.

Sweeney is Jared Stillman lite.

He always focuses on the negative too. He brought up a bunch of negative points in the post game show after the UK game and Ennis always took it back to the positive route.

There is constructive criticism and there's negative and Sweeney is the latter.

Ugh, Sweeney is covering for Valvano right now....time to switch to Pandora for the afternoon.
Lol. I heard that too and thought about this thread. I won't listen to any of shows that I regularly listen to that he is the primary cover person for.

I like your posts and especially the information regarding the YUM Center financials. Just out of curiosity do you have a job? It seems like you post on message boards all day like Senore.

Female listener. Mostly in the car. Will only listen to WHAS if Paul is calling a game or there is a coach's show. Listen to those at home, of course. Gave up on Underdogs. Tony V trying to get uk callers by being UL negative in a stupid way. Very immature. Must have a target of 18 year olds. Deener is annoying. Glad Stillman left even though he was associated with the WBB team. I could listen to Jason but have switched to Ramsey and Rutherford. Like the people Valvano gets on his show but he sounds like he is going to have a heart attack on the air sometimes. Has no patience:) There are SO MANY to list. Like Marquis Maybin. Wonderful surprise. Plus coach Eaves. I like Howie. Sweeney called me a tool and a trowel when I complained BEFORE the prostitution mess at UofL about the sports stations airing 'gentlemen' club ads. Really? Females listen to sports radio. Females play sports and are a big part of spectator sports in Louisville. This is a 'business' that needs to leave town - especially downtown.
I like intelligent sports comments from Bozo, Eric Crawford, and Pat Forde. They criticize UofL when it is necessary but not it a loud awful way.
matt jones. I am thankful that we have no one like him in the Louisville area and isn't it appropriate that someone that obnoxious and mean spirited represents that fan base.
(It's interesting that the callers are mostly male. Just like in high school when females were afraid their raise their hands. Interesting:)

I was with you until here.

All these announcers/personalities simply play to the advertiser ratings gods. It is WAY WAY sickening. Most of these apparently stupid announcers are actually quite smart folks. Bozich is smart. Eric is also. I know a lot of them. But, I have stopped listening a long time ago. They are paid to do weird stuff and say weird things. It is the same in political punditry. The world is just very different.

I'll occasionally listen to Deener, only if Howard is airing something I'm not into. Like, for example, their extended coverage of the Adult Diaper Convention, where weirdos get their kicks soiling themselves in diapers and having their partner change them. Very odd, needless to say. So, I gave Deener the listen. Caught his "Fair or Foul" piece. Almost as equally as stupid as the ADC. Ramsey and Rutherford is the only show I routinely listen to. Ramsey's homer shtick is a bit much, but I like Mike.

A little OT, but no problem... Indeed, I am semi-retired in my late 50s and can post almost anytime of day. (NOTE: not ALL times of day.)

I do have other responsibilities, but I enjoy this in 15-minite snippets. And it allows me to multi-task.

Thanks for asking...

I listened to just a little bit of yesterday's show and I didn't have a strong opinion one way or the other. The only strong impression was that he kept cutting off Maybin. Maybin kept trying to respond and he would just keep cutting in. I started thinking shut up and let Maybin finish his thought...jeeez!

I think Maybin is very good. Very articulate, interesting angles, he has stories from being an athlete and he has good one liners. His line after the Kentucky game about enjoying the taste of tears. That was classic.

I just do not have time to listen the daytime radio show except when I am in the car. Really miss the evening sports talk program on WHAS.

I heard Mandy has given notice. Wonder if they would think about bringing back Sports Talk and wonder if any of the current daytime guys would be up for hosting it...as long as their name is not Gary Gupton.

Or Lachlan. He was nothing short of awful.
