Louisville second baseman Nick Solak was named Friday as a Second Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A native of Woodridge, Illinois, Solak completed his junior season in the classroom at Louisville with a 3.69 GPA while majoring in finance. On the diamond, Solak enters the 2016 NCAA Championship with a .377 batting average, four home runs, 13 doubles, 26 RBI and 46 runs scored in 42 games played, including 40 starts. Solak, who has 25 walks and just 18 strikeouts this season, has hit in either the No. 3 or No. 4 position in the Cardinals lineup for each of his 40 starts.

The No.2 national seeded Cardinals (47-12) open the NCAA Championship against Western Michigan on Friday at 6 p.m., ET during the first day of the NCAA Regional at Louisville’s Jim Patterson Stadium. Ohio State and Wright State will open Friday’s schedule at 2 p.m.
