From the article:

“He’s our coach and he’ll be our coach for a long, long time,” AU athletic director Jay Jacobs said. “He’s a brilliant offensive mind, took us to two national championships: once as a coordinator, once as a head coach. There’s a bunch of schools in this league that would love to be in our position with a guy like him. That’s a tough league. This league is tough every day. It doesn’t matter what year it is — year in, year out, how many years you’ve been here or whatever it may be. There is no doubt about it: he’s the right guy for Auburn.

In June of 2011, Gene Chizik was rewarded with a contract extension, with Jacobs saying at the time Chizik will be “our coach at Auburn for a long, long time.” A year and a half later, Chizik was canned by Jacobs.

So, yeah Malzahn, watch your back for “a long, long time” with Jacobs holding your fate in his hands.

I've always enjoyed watching Malzahn coached offenses. The way his option spreads the field causes so much indecision on the front 7 of the defense and opens up running and passing lanes. Lamar Jackson would go apeshat in that offense. Reminds me of the Pat White-Steve Sloan, Rich Rod offense at WVU; fun to watch, hell to defend.

Still feel he is on the Hot Seat....this is one to watch for Louisville...it is Auburn...
