3rd and inches from the 5 roll out Lamar just nothing happening high risk play leads to INT.
3rd and G from the 5 run up the middle for nothing.

I have no idea, does anybody know what this offense is ranked in the RZ - do they track such a thing?

Some stat hound somewhere tracks it, but those 2 plays killed us today. Well that and giving up 625 total yards of offense to Wake Forrest. Good grief.

That would require actually using the TE, which Bobby doesn't do anymore.
Except in the RZ where Stansbury got a bunch of targets. My question is - why does every route have to be 12-15 yds? Can’t we mix shit up?

Actually they do. We are tied for 37th nationally in red zone efficiency going into today with 35 trips-23 TDs-8 FGs and 4 empty trips. That’s virtually the exact same stats that Oklahoma has with Baker Mayfield.

Better than it seemed I guess. With any kind of a decent defense, this team would be 8-1 or 7-2.

The problem isn't the offense. I believe the TE dropped a TD pass today. My big issue with coaching decisions today was not kicking the FG on 4th and goal and cutting the deficit to 2 scores.

Thanks for giving me this. Interesting. 37th is not bad. I wonder what they drop to after today.

If your defense can’t stop a high school team 3 points won’t win the game. Bobby knew what was up and he realized they needed TDs. All my buddies watching agreed to a man that was the right call. But like most calls like that you’re a hero or zero. In the end it didn’t matter. There was no momentum changing offensive play today because our D couldn’t make a stop without WF helping by making a mistake. And we couldn’t even capitalize on those.

In reference to play calling though, usually I don’t agree with the announcers but they have been spot on second guessing some of Bobby’s decision making at least once every game. When it’s that obvious to these hacks, something’s not right with the coaching decisions.

I understand what you are saying, but you have to kick the field goal there. If you cut it to two scores, you put the pressure on the other team's offense to decide if they try to run out the clock or stick to their normal game plan. Generally they'll start running the ball to chew the clock and that makes them one dimensional. So really what you are doing is making the opposing offense more conservative which (should) benefit our porous defense.

Normally I would agree with you. But clearly WF wasn’t feeling any pressure at all from our D. They went for it on 4th and 11 at mid field. Do you honestly think 3 points in that game would have pressured them. No one thinks our D can stop them. No one fears our D. Heck the NCST coach said so much.

WF knew their game plan would work. They practiced all week knowing if they could protect their QB, he would have the chance to eat up the Cards secondary. And once the game commenced their confidence rose as their strategy was working better than against their own defense in practice. BC realized the same thing, especially after halftime. Football is a game where when coaches see that something works, they usually pound it. They keep at it until the other team adjusts and that's the problem with the Cards defense. They don't adjust.

The Cards last three losses the other team wanted it much more. NC State, BC and Wake were all tired of losing to Louisville so they had the motivation but the most important thing for them was they didn't fear the Cards defense. They executed knowing they would get the win regardless of how many stats Lamar Jackson puts up. Upcoming, Syracuse falls into that category as a team tired of losing to Louisville. Virginia suddenly is having issues after a good start so they may not be as confident but after watching game film on Louisville, that will probably change. And UK, after beating the Cards last season, may be overconfident this season which is the Cards only chance at winning.

This season is a Steve Kragthorpe kind of season. Why is the big question but right now there are lots of decent offensive teams who would gain over 500 yards of offense against this Cards defense but the biggest disappointment is there doesn't seem to be any adjustments being made to change it. Again, Kragthorpion.

Assuming we had any intention of winning, it was going to require a stop by the defense. Just like fouling near the end of a basketball game, the goal there is to make the game as long as possible and try to get Wake to falter. Instead by going for a touchdown, Petrino ensured that we lost the game with 7 minutes still on the clock.
