Completely backslid on that. I think this season had to set a record for poor shot selection.

Pitino remarked after the game about driving the ball since their shots weren't falling. And he commented about not getting the foul calls.

After hearing that, I was a little more understanding of the way Terry and Wayne played in the 2nd half. Rozier took way too many off-balanced shots at the end of drives, and Blackshear kept taking the ball in too deep and getting it blocked. Now, it appears that they were mostly following coach's orders, or trying to. And unless Pitino was covering for them, he evidently misjudged how closely the fouls were gonna be called. (They weren't closely called.)

I doubt that Pitino told them to also take bad or challenged shots. But in one half of basketball, those were quite possibly mutually exclusive goals. I was hoping those guys didn't go brain-dead and revert to old tendencies. It doesn't appear that they did...

MSU did a good job walling off our drives.

I think Q missed a few shots in the lane he had been making and dropped his head. He never really did find his 3 pt eye in the tourney even though he played very well overall.

Rozier tried to put the team on his back. I believe he sensed Trez was gassed and not the same guy we've had all year. I wish we could have ran more offense through Blackshear he was unstoppable most the game.

Our guards had a good run but were only late blooming FR and So getting his first season of extended run.

It was a nice run for the Cards.

Very true.....and their 'D' got the no-call, friendly non whistle, way too often.

But, they did play hard nosed tough 'D' just like our Cardinals are known for. So hats off to them.

When you are already a low % shot team to begin with.....you have to take advantage of making the 'free throws' and the Cards didn't do that except for Wayne. As much as anything else.....that contributed to the "L".

Had Mango made his 2nd shot at the end....he would be a legend in the making for us. Kinda reminds me of an early Akeem Olajuwon....very raw but full of untapped potential.

All of the returnees for next year need to get in the gym and shoot 1000's of FT's each and every day, 365 days of the year.

All things considered.....It was a great run for this deeply flawed team.

CRP and staff got every ounce of production that was possible out of this team and I am thankful the Cards have a HOF coach and some high energy, hard workers that will be greatly missed next year in Wayne and Trez, and maybe Rozier. Kudos to them all.

Hope I am still around to see next years 'Adventure' and what that brings to all of us Card fans. Good fortune to all!
