By Jeff Greer:
Here is a breakdown of each player's performance on Thursday night. Ryan McMahon, Dillon Avare, Jay Henderson and Matz Stockman did not play in the game.
•Damion Lee: The 6-foot-6 Lee was active at first, helping out on offense by attracting defenders and spreading the floor. But he struggled with his shot and faded for much of the second. He did, however, drill a go-ahead 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter and bank in a tough runner in the game's final seconds. Grade: B
•Trey Lewis: There were a few mistakes that shouldn't happen for a fifth-year point guard, like committing turnovers with errant lead passes to start run-outs. But Lewis had his best offensive night of the trip, at least from start to finish. He hit a first-half 3-pointer, made a nice runner in the lane during a frenetic fourth-quarter comeback and drained the game winner. Grade: A.
•Quentin Snider: The Louisville native started on Friday but didn't get in any kind of rhythm. He hardly played down the stretch. He was 1 for 5 from the field and had three turnovers, though he also had two steals and three assists. Grade: C.
•Deng Adel: It was another solid night for the 6-7 freshman. He was comfortable shooting his mid-range jumper and was active on the glass. He has really proven himself worthy of playing time this winter. Grade: B.
•Jaylen Johnson: One of the better players on Thursday, the 6-9 Johnson struggled a bit on Friday. He missed a floater in the first half and was chewed out by the team's older players for not listening and missing an assignment. Grade: C-minus.
•Mangok Mathiang: Like Lewis, Mathiang had his best performance of the trip here in Manati. He was a man on a mission in the first half, scoring in a multitude of ways around the basket. He had 17 first-half points, and though he didn't score as much in the second half, Mathiang was the only player Pitino praised in the postgame interview. Grade: A.
•Chinanu Onuaku: A night after his one-game suspension, the 6-10 sophomore was very active on both ends and looked comfortable playing with Mathiang. He missed the would-be go-ahead layup after a really nice post move to free himself up late in the game, but he made up for it by getting a deflection and a steal on the other end that led to Lewis's big shot. Grade: B.
•Donovan Mitchell: It was another night where Mitchell's physicality and athleticism helped him make an impact on the defensive end. He threw down one ferocious alley-oop on a fast break, but his biggest role was as a lockdown guy. Grade: B.
•Anas Mahmoud: He played very well on Thursday, but he just couldn't get going on Friday. Grade: C-minus.
•Ray Spalding: Louisville's best deflections guy did his job on Friday in limited time. He wasn't much of an impact guy on offense, but Spalding did a lot of good things. Grade: B.
•David Levitch: He got some court time on Friday, but not enough to really warrant a grade. Grade: N/A.
