Just amazing:
The Baylor board of regents will vote Monday on whether to hand football coach Art Briles a one-year suspension rather than terminate him from the program, reports Chip Brown of Horns Digest.
Baylor suspended Briles in May with “intent to terminate” amid the controversy over the school’s handling of rape allegations involving football players.
Brown reports it is unclear whether there will be enough votes to reinstate Briles as head coach for the 2017 season, but some donors have threatened to halt their financial support of the university if Briles isn’t retained. USA Today reports the vote is unlikely to result in any action.
Those who support Briles returning to the football program reportedly believe the blame for the mishandling of the sexual assault reports falls on former university president Ken Starr, who resigned from his new position as chancellor last month. From 2011 to 2014 the school did not have a Title IX coordinator who could have trained the football staff on how to properly handle the sexual assault complaints.
