There’s still hope for Rodney Rice and Louisville, but it isn’t as cut and dry now that his former coach got hired elsewhere.
Because of this, I believe that’s why Louisville offered Jaden Schutt. They’re dying for skill on the wings from now on and that’s exactly what Schutt provides. The staff loves that he’s 6’5”, is very skilled and can shoot at a high clip. He makes sense as a multi-year guy.
This staff will look to add 2-3 more players to this class, but they all have to be the right fit. If there’s not a great fit, they’re more than happy to go the transfer route and only take a very small class of 2-3 total. I believe they’ll add a wing scorer, a big and a point guard, and I believe this is the order of importance.
A name to watch at the PG spot that could get some interest is Indiana native Leland Walker, who I’m a big fan of. He’s a dog that’s great at getting paint touches and is a very crafty finisher around the rim. He holds a handful of mid-major offers but has high major schools like Maryland, Minnesota and Kansas State ready to pull the trigger.
Maki Johnson and Lawrent Rice are two guys to watch in 2023. The staff loves both of them and both make sense in terms of fit. They’ll be on campus next month for unofficials and I could see offers extended to both this summer.
