  • When we all found out about Brohm's hiring, we dreamed about the potential and possibilities that could play out down the road for this football program. Like everybody else, I too was expecting great things to come during his tenure, but I could not have imagined that we would have as great of a start as we've seen up to this point. We've gotten to watch a well-prepared team that play their collective asses off and play for each other. If you've ever played football or coached, you know that the mentality of playing for the guy next to you can take you a long way in itself, but when you combine that with coaches who get you prepared and give you the confidence that you can beat anybody, you get the results that we've seen so far this season. There have been multiple games this year where I'm fairly certain SS led teams would've rolled over as I don't think they ever played with the same "togetherness" that we're seeing now. It's very refreshing to see a team come out of halftime focused and executing the in-game adjustments that the coaches have made. When's the last time we had a team that you could consider a "second half team?"
  • This team is full of guys who are just easy to root for. Some examples below:
    • Ramon Puryear - My senior year of college, I was knocking out some GenEds and had History 101 w/ Ramon. There were 5 or 6 football players in the class, but Ramon was the only one who would consistently come to class and he was attentive and would ask questions every class. He was a walk-on at the time, but I would imagine his work ethic in the classroom carries over to all other aspects of his life, like football. It was neat to see an athlete that clearly valued his education and was taking advantage of the opportunity that he had earned. Going from walk-on to scholarship player, he was already an easy guy to root for, but after watching the motor he plays with play after play, he may be one of my favorite players on the team. He's certainly doesn't have the most God given talent, but he uses every single ounce of what he does have. I hope that he continues to make impact plays for the defense.
    • Jawhar Jordan - His talent and the impact he has on this team don't need to be discussed, but I think the way he ended up in the position that he is now is cool. He was a 3-star recruit who didn't see the field much at all for bad Syracuse teams. He transfers here and it's not a big deal in the national or really local media which is completely understandable. Then, for about a year and a half, he sits at 3rd or 4th on the depth chart with sparse playing time. In the era of the transfer portal, most kids would simply transfer to a school where they would see immediate playing time. He believed in himself and took advantage of every opportunity that he got the last 2 years and made it impossible for any coach to keep him off of the field. He's an easy guy to root for and the success that he's had this year is just a bonus.
    • Ashton Gillotte - A super talented player who just seems like the nicest guy in the world as far as interacting with young fans and cheering his teammates on. It's cool to see him have so much success on the field up to this point. Can't wait to watch him on Sundays!
  • My favorite thing about this team as a whole: how hard they play. The best example of this in my opinion is Chris Bell's tackle on special teams last week where he dove about 6 yards to try and bring the returner down. While it was hilarious looking, it was awesome to see an offensive player coming off of a career best game giving that much effort on special teams. He didn't have a single target against ND (I think) but he still blocked his tail and played as hard as he possibly could've in every other phase of the game. These guys are all flying to football on defense, fighting for extra yardage on offense, and playing their tails off on special teams. The result is a team that's a lot of fun to watch and it makes them super easy to root for. I couldn't be more excited about the rest of this season and the future of the program under Jeff Brohm!
